a pilot is when the very first episode airs, hence the title "pilot"
when the pilot is released to the public, if it gets enough positive attention, then the series will continue
if not, then the show is cancelled
that's why they don't give it any specific title and just call it "pilot", because they don't know if the series will continue or not -
