There are essentially three different body types as defined by body builders. Among them, the mesomorph is the ideal body type that every person would want to have.
While ectomorphs may be tall and lanky and endomorphs tend to be rounded and heavier, a mesomorphic body is very sporty and athletically built. It may have a naturally muscular look and exhibit excellent physical abilities and attributes.
The male mesomorph often has a rectangular figure, strong and powerful, whereas the female mesomorph may exhibit an hourglass shape. Following are ten of the common physical characteristics of a mesomorph:
Lean Figure Mesomorphs have lean figures that clearly define their muscle groups, easily observed in the contours of their skin.
Heavy Body Typical mesomorphs will usually weigh much more than the average person. They may even carry more weight than an obese person, but because of their body type, they are able to control their weight and convert extra calories into muscle mass, which only adds to a better looking body.
Fast Metabolism Characterized by a fast metabolism, mesomorphs can eat practically whatever they want and not put on weight.
Weight Gain If a person with a mesomorphic body does put on weight, he/she can just as easily take it off by going to the gym a few times a week and working out.
Well Built With clear muscle definition, broad shoulders and a narrow waist, mesomorphs appear to be naturally well built.
Muscular Mesomorphic body types are generally very muscular. They are strong and can get even stronger by doing weight training.
Lower Body Fat Percentage Mesomorphs have a very small amount of body fat as compared to the other two body types. Mesomorphs have more muscle mass than body fat, which gives them their muscular appearance.
Large Muscles Besides having muscular bodies, mesomorphs will also have naturally large muscles. They do not need to spend hours at the gym to look ripped; they are born with it.
Good Cardio Mesomorphs have good cardiovascular systems because of their naturally strong bodies. They are able to run longer and perform cardio exercises and activities for longer than any other body type.
Strong Legs Mesomorphic types have very strong legs. This is necessary to support their large muscular body structures. -

Identifying your body type can be very helpful to your weight-training program. Of the three main categories, are you an endomorph?
As you go about choosing a proper workout and diet plan, one thing that you must be sure youre taking into account is what your body type is.
Ectomorphs tend to be tall and thin, while mesomorphs are more likely to look muscular and athletic. Endomorphs, on the other hand, will typically have rounder, heavier bodies, which will affect their natural tendency to gain/lose body fat or lean muscle mass.
Lets look at ten physical characteristics that indicate you have this body type.
Soft & Round If you take a good look in the mirror and notice that you have a rather soft and round appearance, these are two characteristics of an endomorph. Lack of muscle tone is usually evident due to the higher body fat levels these individuals have.
Short & Stocky Another common endomorphic physical characteristic is being short and stocky. This only adds to the effect of making the endomorph look heavier than they really are.
Thick Arms & Legs An endomorphs limbs will tend to be solid and thick in appearance relative to his/her height and weight.
Weight Gain The first trait to be aware of is the ease of fat gain. If you go off your normal diet for a few days, such as over the holidays and find that after two or three days youve put on body fat, this is a good indication that youre an endomorph.
Storing Fat Another sign that you have the endomorphic body type is if youre someone who tends to store body fat easily, especially in the hips and thighs if youre female or lower back if youre male. These are the primary fat storage deposits for each gender and if it seems like you pack away excess fat there rather easily, you are an endomorph.
Hard Dieting The next clear sign that youre of the endomorph body type is if you really do struggle to lose fat when on a diet plan. If you find that you cant lose fat regardless of what you try, chances are youre endomorphic.
Low Endurance Unlike the athletic mesomorphs, the extra fat carried by endomorphs makes it difficult for them to stick to workout routines. They find it difficult to take on long and strenuous exercise regimens.
Slower Metabolism The primary reason why fat loss is so hard for endomorphs is a slower than normal metabolic rate. If youve monitored your calories for a period of time and notice that you maintain weight on a lower calorie intake than you should, this is yet another sign you have this body type. -
Cool I did as well . I went to 3 birthday partys In 2 weeks I've got one more in couple weeks plus I sprained my damn knee again '_' not to happy bout that

Knowing your body type can be highly beneficial to your weight-training program. Of the three main categories, are you an ectomorph?
Mesomorphs are traditionally muscular and athletic, while endomorphs have a rounded and heavier physique. If you are an ectomorph, you should recognize yourself in the 10 physical characteristics described below.
Skinny You are not likely to find an ectomorph carrying around excess weight. The defining characteristic of an ectomorph is a thin figure. Ectomorphs may even have a bony appearance with little or no visible muscle mass.
Tall Ectomorphs are typically tall with long limbs. The height is not likely to come from their upper body; instead the ectomorph will stand out with long arms and legs and narrow hands and feet.
Thin Muscles When you have an ectomorphic body type, you typically have a very difficult time gaining muscle. Muscle mass on ectomorphs has a tendency to be stringy. Although muscle mass is not improved with weight training in most ectomorphs, strength gains are still increased with weighted workouts, especially for women.
Slow Weight Gain Ectomorphs have very few dietary restrictions. Even with the consumption of high calorie foods, ectomorphs could find it difficult to gain weight. The metabolism of an ectomorph burns off calories at a faster rate than other body types.
Decreased Endurance Unlike the athletic mesomorphs, ectomorphs have a tendency to find it hard to stick to a workout program. They have less endurance than mesomorphs and cant handle long and strenuous exercise regimens.
Small Shoulders and Chest Although ectomorphs may have lengthy limbs, they have a tendency to appear narrow around the shoulders and chest. The upper body may even have a concave look to it.
Delicate Bone Structure Ectomorphs will not appear to others as strong and intimidating. Instead, they may appear soft and fragile.
Easy Weight Loss Not only is it difficult for ectomorphs to gain weight, but they lose weight very easily, too. If they increase aerobic workouts or decrease calorie count, the weight is likely to come off quickly.
Flat Front Ectomorphs will not have a muscular chest or six-pack abs. The fronts of their bodies are likely to appear flat with no muscle definition.
Hardgainers Ectomorphs must make a commitment to a strength training and follow a high calorie eating plan to gain muscle mass. Workouts should focus on large muscle areas with short sessions and higher weight amounts.
