I clean all the time and nobidy notices or thabks me and they yell at me when I want to take a break for once and not clean
excuse you damn it I clean all the time every week without being asked but of f---ing course you only give a s--- when I don't do it

I feel this on a spiritual level
when we first moved here I started cleaning the kitchen nightly to help my birthgiver out and sometimes when I got home late from work or when I was just too tired I'd skip it and then she actually confronted me about it like, "I've noticed you've started skipping nights, and that needs to stop happening" and then my little favor turned into a task I was expected to do and she threatened to take s--- away if I didn't so you know
moral of the story is set the expectations low
don't do nice things for people who won't appreciate them -

in the future don't do nice things for the people who are yelling at you -

How can he kick your ass if you never put the idea in his head that you should be doing a thing? I mean these little favors you've done of your own volition, like cleaning up without being asked. If you never start these things, it won't occur to others that you should be doing them. Unfortunately, it looks like you're stuck with cleaning now, but don't do much else in the future for the little s---s.
