So C1 lives with their single, widowed mother. All their life she has lived humbly, didn't share her past, and had said their father died when they were a child. What C1 doesn't know is their mom's past or that her father is alive. Meanwhile, C2 is a Nephilim, a part of the race of half humans, half angels, living in an Institute miles away from the city. C2 is one of the best skilled Shadowhunters(that's also what they call themselves) at killing demons. One day, while C1 is at a coffee house with her friend, her mother calls her, frantic to warn them and Valentine(C1's father) has returned, and to not go back home.
