Thread Topic: Now, you tell me

A woman has given birth to four children. The first child is blind, the second child died, the third child is deaf, and the fourth child has tuberculosis. The mother has tuberculosis, and the father spends his evenings out drinking in the taverns. Now the woman discovers that she is pregnant again. What should she do?
-
Should she get rid of it because it's likely to have a problem? Well.. No that'd be wrong, blind and deaf people can still have good lives. If she is too poor to have another then she could give it up for adoption.
I don't see how the father drinking every night is relevant? She should encourage him to stop or leave him if he continues or becomes worse. -
Anyone else?
-
You don't need anyone else cause I am right. I don't actually understand the problem.
-
I just was interested to know what other people thought.
-
I don't understand the problem though. Are you saying what should she do about the baby?
-
Yes. It's not something I'm personally struggling with (because that would be weird if I was) but I just kinda wanted to see what people thought. Pure curiosity.
-
There isn't really a "should". It would depend on if she could afford and cope with another child. But having an abortion would be wrong because none of those disabilities are that terrible.
-
You have a very good point there. And I agree that having an abortion would be wrong, because then we've just killed Beethoven.
-
Some people even keep babies when they know they'll be really deformed, now that I find a bit cruel.
