they're really not
hisoka beats the s--- out of gon throughout the series
illumi is manipulative and deceitful you learn that fast enough in the hunter exam arc
kurapika's clan was wiped out is learned on like the third or second episode as an explanation to why he was so angsty angry at Leorio for making the comment 'I want to became a Hunter for money'
which that comment is also explained in the same episode
and hisoka's arm being cut off isn't major to the plot in any way whatsoever -
