Hollywood used to be better back in the days... no. Hollywood has always been strange and very mysterious.
I know not all of them are, but now it's just all about that. Good artists aren't usually noticed because the industry tries to take advantage of them are rule their lives like a puppet and they boldly refuse and say no and the music industry doesn't like being defied so they do whatever it takes to not make those fantastic artist noticeable but somehow they get their selves noticed. -

Thats the thing though.... 'good artist' is a subjective opinion. Artist that people think are good, could be seen as s--- in other people's eyes, for one. Two, artist get noticed if a lot of people are in to their music and actually promo it and show theyre friends and all that s---. They could be a good artist, have not a large following, and that causes them to go unnoticed in the music industry. Show business is indeed about demand.
