The Globe was also used for gambling and for immoral purposes. The area of the Globe theatre was rediscovered in the 20th century and a reconstruction of it has been built near the spot.

Now to put them together..
How did the Globe theatre burn down? The canon used for special effects, such as heralding great entrances, was loaded. This caused for the roof to catch on fire and the Globe Theatre burned to the ground. Also, because it was built with timber, this made it quicker for it to burn down. Luckily, in 1614 the Globe Theatre was rebuilt. The Puritans had been the source of many problems for this theatre. They gain power and support during this time period. The Puritans- who found theatres vulgar and intolerable- shut down all theatres. The Globe theatre was then demolished by them in 1644. This didn't stop the entertainment. The Globe theatre was rebuilt in 1996! Many people attended the theatre but how did they know what was going to be performed? Flags were put up. There are three different flags they used. These flags represented the genre of play. The white flag represented comedy, the red flag represented history and the black flag was tradegy. Because of the many people who were illiterate, the flags were a simple device used to indicate which type of genre was going to be performed.
Most plays were performed in the Summer due to no heating and in the winter, they were moved to indoor houses. Women were not allowed to perform the theatres. Men had to dress up as women to fill in the roles of females in the play. In fact, they removed some parts of men to keep them from passing puberty. This causes them to keep their unmanly voices for women parts. The Globe was fit to hold about 3,000 people! Many skipped work just to watch the shows.
