i was actually thinking of getting y instead of x because of the version-exclusives dragalge and aromatisse over x's clawitzer and slurpuff, but i got them in trading on x anyway and you're probably confused aren't you?? xP

well, in each generation of pokemon, there are two games game freak make (game freak being the makers of the game), those two being the main games. there could also possibly be a third one. there is spin-off games as well (tons of them) but the main ones are where you actually get to catch and train your own pokemon, like in x and y. in the two games, there is a legendary pokemon that is a mascot for each, a legendary pokemon being a pokemon there is only one of. for example, xerneas is the mascot for x, and yveltal y. groudon was the mascot for ruby, kyogre for sapphire, and also rayquaza for emerald (the exception being in the first two games released in the us, where it was two normal pokemon). the mascot for the game is exclusive to it, which means you can only catch it in that game (you can only catch xerneas in x, and yveltal in y).

the games also usually have other pokemon that are exclusive to it too. so in y, it was dragalge and aromatisse, while in x it was clawitzer and slurpuff. i liked the y exclusives better, however i didn't like yveltal so i ended up getting x. now i have the y exclusives in that game. how? because of the wireless trading systems. in these games, you can meet people from all over the world. you can trade and battle with them, too. you can also trade a pokemon you don't want to the wonder trade spot, where it will be randomly traded to anypony who is also using wonder trade. and finally there is the gts, where you can put up a pokemon for trade and get a specific pokemon you want instantly. i obtained the y exclusives using the wireless trade systems.
