I'd wish for more wishes :)

No, I'm not waiting for high school. I heard, Take the path you most believe in.
-
There are specialty secondary (high) schools that are for arts and kickstarts your career.
For example, Vegekaka is in one, and I'm cross-enrolled into a digital arts academy that'll basically give me an arts certificate saying I'm qualified to do art for work.
trust me, you can't just skip high school. You learn plenty of s--- here that'll help you out in life. -
Nah, I'm good.
Yes, I can. Plus, I'm getting home schooled when I get into High school, What's the difference? -
It frustrates the hell out of me when people think it's not necessary to go.
Do you have any idea how much you learn from high school? what kind of life lessons you'll get? How society works? How to deal with criticism? Not to mention, the great memories and friends you'll find along with the social skills you'll need to function in society and whatnot.
tl;dr you are literally stupid if you think you can skip high school just fine with skill and talent. That is not how society works. Some rare cases of people dropping out and succeeding, but those are rare and one in a million. If i did that (why the f--- would I do that I'm a senior) and tried to get into the art industry based on skill and talent alone, I would be genuinely f---ed over.
Homeschooling is fine (I assumed you meant NOT going to school in general and just skipping it) but the art industry is not only based on skill and creativity, but connections as well, not going to high school may make you miss out on some connections and make it harder for you later on. It's not that simple. -
Why does it matter? All my dreams are crushed. I suck at drawing, I have no faith in myself into getting into any college or university.
-
Ehh... I hope my parents let me go to highschool
-
@Ting WHAT WHEN DID YOU GET SO OLD?! Wait are Canadian schools the same age wise?
But yes listen to your elder. High school is important. -
The thing about universities and colleges here in the U.S. is that you HAVE to push yourself and you HAVE to make connections. In this age money isn't even the problem anymore. There are tons of scholarships and grants to be able to pay for college. It just takes a little bit of determination.
Art isn't everything. Even I'm making my plans to be a lawyer in case I don't pass on. You always have to have a back-up plan because the art industry is always going to be f---in hard to get into (as with the majority of industries involving the 'creative process').
But the thing is DETERMINATION. You cannot get anywhere and will NEVER get anywhere if you don't have it. -
Because that's EXACTLY the attitude that leads to failure. I'm not doing all this because I want to sound like a soul-crushing ass, I'm doing this because I want to help you and see you to success in whatever meager way I can.
You are young. You have time to work on your skill. you don't necessarily have to go to art school immediately after high school, you can take years off to develop skills because it's not like any other subject.
Being in such a negative attitude will lead you to failure. Do you know why I've only been drawing for two years but I'm ahead of my game? It's because keeping a positive attitude goes a long way.
Look at everything around you. Do you understand how f---ing beautiful they are? No? get up close and study it. Study how the light hits it, feel the texture, look at the colours. Understand the beauty.
Just by doing that alone you're learning something that can help you in art. Look up resources, get art books, watch other people draw, draw WITH other people, LOOK at other people's art and study their brush strokes left behind. This helps you greatly.
You have all the time and resources in the world to work on your skill, you may think you suck now but we all suck when we start out. In a few years you may feel like your art's gotten a lot better when you look at your old stuff and be like, "Wow, I think I can do this!". You are always improving. Don't give up.
Keep going because your dreams matter. Don't live life thinking about what could have been.
I always thought that I'd never get into art college or any university of the sort, but people have been telling me my art's better than some of the artists that graduate from a prestigious art university around here.
Keeping a positive attitude and having a positive environment helps your art grow.
Being negative about it and feeling like you'll fail is just going to do that: Fail.
So what do you say? -
Teresa, the ages for high school for canadians and americans are different by far.
James graduated 2013. I'm graduating 2014. I'm two years younger than him. -
Ohhhh. So you're 16, right?
-
I say... I decide to make special youtube videos.
-
Turning 17, yes.
@AP special youtube videos? -
@Anime usually people who become partners with youtube are sponsored or beauty gurus. I don't think many artists become partners and I don't think you can make it a career right from the start.
