Mary Sue.
Filipinos are not light skinned from what I know. And dude, everything here is like.. Jeez. xP
I hate to say it, but.. Mary Sue alert.
This is pretty much why I always make my own OCs from scratch even if I die from the stress of having to look into their history.. I know they're nations, but they're flawed like people. Even more than people, to be honest. And I don't believe that a country like Philippines can remain that 'sweet kawaii innocent desu desu' as a personification.
Like Uruguay. I don't care how kawaii desu you want him to be because of how nice his people are and even his presidents. He did f---ed up things in the past and because of that he's going to be a f---ed up person in at least SOME senses. -

Then Mexico. I don't care how f---ing friendly everyone in Mexico is. I'm sorry, but he's going to be f---ing scarred from all the people that betrayed him. Maybe he's friendly but he finds it hard to actually make friends bc hiSTORY WISE ALL THE PEOPLE HE THOUGHT WERE HIS 'FRIENDS' NEARLY KILLED HIM
i.e: amERICA AND FRANCE
also even mexICO, A NEUTRAL POWER, KNOWS THEY CAN'T BE FRIENDS WITH EVERYONE
I JUST FIND IT REALLY UNREALISTIC THAT PHILIPPINES OC CAN BEFRIEND EVERYONE.
omg people please stop making Mary Sues for nations they make me really sad. I know you like thinking that everyone can live happily but they really can't. -
That character looks nothing like how I would picture someone from the Philippines. o3o
I agree. I think all countries are flawed and have made mistakes. Just because you like a country doesn't mean you should cover up important aspects of their history that may not be so "kawaii desu".
We could go on and on about what horrid things countries have done in the past. Easy ones to point out are Germany, Japan, Russia and China, but everyone has done it. That's one reason why I think we find the characters so easy to relate to is because they're flawed; not perfect little angels. We can look at their good sides and strive for those qualities, while remembering the wrong that's been done.
This is why I'm putting my Hetalia OCs on hold for a while. I want whatever I make to be as close to authentic as possible. -

Of course, they've all done things that aren't good. They're imperfect, like us. And like real people, even if you want to cover up your mistakes, you really can't.
Yes! That's it. That's why I do like characters. Like us, they're not perfect. But they teach us that we have good things about us even if almost everyone hates us, or if we've done bad things. Also, they show us that we can't always be regretting things we've done in the past. We just have to move on. But we should use those experiences as an advantage too, so that we know that we should avoid situations like that in the future.
I can't wait to see them again when you're done x3
