Alleria NoviceArisa lays on her side as Dante tucks the blankets around her seven-year old body.
"Good night, Arisa," Dante says, gently kissing her forehead, smiling down at her, before leaving the room.
"Goodnight, Dante," she whispers. Few minutes of silence, she begins to feel her body shake. Something bad is happening. She sits up, standing, walking into the hallway.
Dante...
She softly knocks on the door, then pushes it open.
"Dante?" she calls out softly.
"Arisa? What is it?" Eighteen-year-old Dante asks, turning on the light.
"Can I... sleep with you tonight? I'm.... scared," she whispers the last word.
Dante nods, as Arisa walks in, crawling onto the bed. Dante turns off the light. Silence. Arisa opens her eyes again, sighing.
"Can't sleep?" Dante's voice asks.
"No," she replies.
Her green eyes pierces him. Even if they were glowing green and had black in the space where the whites would be.
"Well..." he clears his throat. "I don't sleep."
Arisa sits up and looks at him. "You don't sleep? Well, that's strange considering you're not even an angel, but Nemphallian. So you should be able to sleep."
"Oh, that's wise, coming from a demon who doesn't even know what ice cream is," he retorts.
She laughs. "Shut up. For the record you taught me what ice cream was. Even if you did yell and cuss at me."
" 'Cause you were staring at it like it was a bomb! It was melting!"
She laughs again. He chuckles.
Thier laughter fades. "That was a pointless conversation," Dante says.
Arisa lays back down, rolling on her side, facing him.
"Dante...I'm... dying," she whispers.
"What?" he asks. " No. You can't be... You've just got here."
"I've had this body for 60 years, Dante. They don't last long."
"Arisa..." Dante whispers, then pulls her close to him, as if he would never let her go. "I just found you. I'm not letting you go. I... I... lo--I love you."
He felt her tiny body shake and tremble. -
Alleria Novice"Dante... this body is seven. I... even if I... it would feel wrong, it would be wrong. It would be considered rape...." she trails off. "When I die..."
"Don't say that," he cuts in.
"When I die...I'll find a suitable body you can love... If I can remember you."
"Promise you'll look for me. Promise."
"I can't promise that." she says.
"Why do you need to go? Stay. Stay with me," he pleads, panic spreading against his chest, threatening to rip him apart.
""I...." she murmurs, her voice barely audible. He feels her body, relaxing, giving up. He slips his arm underneath her legs, picking her up carrying her up the stairs. The cool air hits thier faces.
"The stars are so pretty," Arisa mumbles, not having enough energy, to keep her eyes open. Dante carefully places himself on the cool metal roof. He pulls her into his lap, gently rocking her, her head against his chest.
" I can't take it anymore," she whispers. Dante tightens both of his arms around her, his chin on top of her head, tears threatening to fall. -
Alleria NoviceArisa closes her eyes, feeling the gentle movements of Dante rocking her.
"I love you," he says clearly.
" I..." she gasps, wincing. "I love you too."
Those are the last words she says.
Dante leans back, watching her glowing green black eyes fade to a dull green color, the whites returning then the green fading to a brown.
He holds her all night and day until the team comes and looks for him.
