  Um, I would say a rattler or something like that. It depends on what the child would like.

  Books are always a safe bet. Get some of those cardboard ones that aren't a problem if the baby starts chewing on them. Books are always good for little kids.

  I was thinking a stuffed animal and one of those learning toys...but I don't know if she'll like it
