How do you spawn stuff? ( I made a world and I am in creative mode in it )

In Creative Mode, just open your inventory and choose eggs from one of the tabs.

I do, I found out how to throw them, but it doesn't work, I tried it with an end portal and a portal thing never appeared, it is like a block thing, no creeper appears when I try to spawn it, but I see and could kill animals and creatures
