  Distribute is you take what's in front of the grouping symbol, in this case 5, multiply it to everything in the grouping symbol then carry on with GEMDAS.

  Because that's what this fucking school told us to use for fucking algebra, but of course this school is shit and can't explain how to add two and two without changing the story every single second. =_=
