Thread Topic: Seriously though, I'm done.
-
My dad asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Naturally, since I'm an honest little f---, I told him that I would really love to be a mangaka (explained it to him differently, of course) or a lawyer.
Then of course, he threw all these negative things around about how those types of people don't get any money unless you're really popular, and this, and that.
So then he gives me a f---ing list of what HE wants me to be. None of which appealed to me nor would I be able to cope with it.
Since I'm an obedient little f---, I said "oh okay. I'll look into that and I'm sure I'll change my mind by the time I grow up."
I'm done.
It's good my dad is telling me things about the jobs that are true. But it is NOT good that he is trying to make me what he wants me to be just because his own job is crappy and what he wants to me make do is what he wanted to do.
I don't care about the money nor could I care for the popularity. If I live in a f---ing dream house with all the luxuries in the world, great. But none of that would matter if I have the job that I couldn't hate any more. I could live in an apartment in a ghetto-ass neighborhood, but if I have the job I've always wanted to have, then I wouldn't give half a s--- about it. I'd be f---ing happy as s---.
You could say that I'm lying, but I'm not. Here in the US I have almost anything I could want and I don't have to do squat, I just have to give it a bit of time. But I'm miserable here. In Mexico I had almost nothing and had to work all the time. But I was SO happy over there compared to how I am here.
Money is not everything. Money cannot buy my happiness. Popularity can't give me happiness.
I'm sorry dad, I'm sure you want me to be some doctor or technical engineer or I don't know what the f--- else you said. But the way I'm living is the way I want it to be, not the way you want it. It is my life, and in the end you won't even be there for anything I accomplish.
So f--- it, I'm done giving a s--- about what he says. -
Wait im confused how he asked you what YOU wanted to be and then like crushed your dream bubble and said what HE wanted that's two different things I thought parents support whatever there kids wanted to di right?
-
Typical Mexican father, no?
Good for you. I'm glad that you're not letting any of that get to you. As you said, it's your life and though he believes that he can enhance it, in the end it is your own decision. -
@Bunny Well, parents that sugar-coat everything support their children through whatever from what I noticed. Since my dad is a pessimist, he doesn't at all. Not even when I make the good choices. Even if I end up being what he wants me to be, he'll still point out everything that is wrong with me and what I did.
@Fernando Somewhat.
And thank you. I'm glad that you finally see my reasoning in something. -
that sucks, I know how you feel my parents do the same thing xP
-
Oooh I see now but wow that kinda suck he should be happy at whatever job you wanna do when you grow up! But I guess parents would never understand there child
-
I figured. Sometimes that is the only thing they're good at, yelling at their children while mothers are too terrified to speak up..
Of course. You know that when I was little, Maya wanted me to be some intellectual or something like that. But I wanted to be a nation. And even though I do have my "why can't I be like everyone elseeeee" moments, I don't regret going with what I really wanted. -
@Carla Parents suck ass sometimes. xP
@Bunny Nope, especially not when they're hardcore pessimists. But you have a point there and you're very right about that.
@Fernando It's sad how that's kind of true, yet I don't entirely agree with you.
And now you realize why sometimes I like talking to you more than actual people. xP /fml -
Wait I forgot to ask you what a pessimists was...
