Cut the blood flow to the wound. If blood doesn't reach it, it'll give you time to patch it up

Welcome. I actually know a lot from that. And your finger might get a purple-ish color but that's because there isn't blood flow. Don't cut it off for more than 30 minutes though. Then you can damage your entire hand
