Anthony sat at the kitchen table, looking over the list of books he'd need for college next year. He heard two quick knocks on the door.
"I'll get it," he called, then remembering that his father wasn't home at the moment. He walked into the living room and opened the door. The girl's physical appearance made him uneasy. I don't want her here. Why did he agree to this? He forced a smile and invited her inside. -
I rolled my eyes at his bad attempt for a smile, fake happiness? Nothing is ever not fake, fake greetings, fake lives, fake fake fake. I walked inside the house and looked around, a normal home, all warm and cosy, just to hide away from the real world, by the looks of this kid the real world hasn't knocked him in the head yet, kind of guy who thinks all his damn books and knowledge will save him. Bloody hell. There is no hope for some people.
-
"Would you like me to take your bag upstairs for you?" he asked. She's here so we can change her. She's not going to be perfect right away, Anthony.
-
"I can do it myself, I'm not sickly" I said, I carried both my bags inside my hands, they were small and light, because their all I had left after the house was burned right after they ranaway. The kid is a gentleman too? Typical cop's son. "Where's my room?"
-
"I was just trying to be polite," he muttered. He led her upstairs to the guest bedroom. It was between his and a bathroom.
Sunlight poured in through the windows and on to the wood floors. The queen-sized bed was made up with white sheets. The dresser, nightstand, and bookshelf in the room were white as well. The walls were a seafoamy green, and the large window at the wall had a seat below it. -
I gasped softly at the sight of my room, just like my room at Gran's, the same kind of sea green walls, the huge window with the window seat and the beautiful white furniture, I gently reached out and touched the wall with a small smile on my face, memories flooding back from a childhood with long grass fields, the sound of crashing waves, the sweet smell of the breeze an- stop. Don't care, I can't care, I quickly took my hand away from the wall and shook my head, "Don't care, don't care" I muttered softly to myself, the more you have to care, the more you have to lose
-
He watched her, standing in the doorway. He had a feeling she wouldn't be that hard to change...
-
Snapping back to reality I went on to the usual act, can't be seen as weak, I am NOT weak, I shall not be considered weak. I plopped onto the bed and lay on my back staring at the ceiling, I need something to get me back in my element. Quickly I pulled a phone out my pocket, I glanced at the boy, "Anty, right? Anty whens your dad coming home, I heard he'll be late right?"
-
"It's, um, Anthony... and yes, he'll be late today. I'm sorry he couldn't be here to welcome you when you arrived." Anthony sat down on the edge of the bed.
-
"No, no, its fine. Just fine" I said with a devious smile, if I needed my element back there's only one way to do it, I opened my phone and scrolled through contacts, "Alice, no. Bri, no. Carter, no, Cathy,no, Dema, no...hmm..there we are Patrick" I quickly called him, "Hey Patrick! Yeah, I'm out now, uh-huh..uh-huh, its Saturday, normal party? Great, I'll be there. Tell them Allie got out of hell" I glanced at him, "Hey, you don't do anything fun with yourself, wanna go to a party?" I asked, it be funny to see this kid there, he'd probably eat a coke brownie and be high without knowing it, that'll be hilarious
-
"I'm not going, and neither are you." He reached for her phone, ending the call.
-
I shook my head and chuckled, "And what makes you think you'll be able to stop me? You probably didn't know but I do what I want, no stopping me" I said grabbing my phone back. Who the hell does he think he is? Bossing me around! Ha! I guess he never knew that task being forbidden increases the want for it to be done.
-
He frowned, not answering her question. "You're not going. That's final."
-
"Don't act like your the boss of me. I. Do. What. I. Want" I stated once again, looking carelessly at my nails, of course I'm going, just an hour till it starts and then I'll be back, I'll be Allie
-
"I may not be the boss of you, but my father is technically your guardian for the time being." He reached over again, grabbing her phone and slipping it into his pocket.
