I tilted my head in a state of confusion. "I'm sorry...But what in the world brings you to believe I'm kidding? Does my face convey frivolous trickery? I'm afraid I do not joke."

"Dude. Cut up the act. Now which way home?" I said with a stiffled laugh.

My face contorted from being perplexed to serious. "I said I wasn't joking. Home isn't anywhere near."

I rolled my eyes. "Seriously. This is all some joke. I can't find my home by myself. I can't remember anything. When was my birthday..."

A small laugh escaped my lips. "You're not getting home. And you have no recollection of anything?" Maybe he hit his head a bit too hard when he fell?

I sighed. "No. Not anything."

"Hm. Well, I'm Conner. I suppose it would be wise of me to help you then.."

"Well then Conner. What kinda trick is this?"

"Not a trick at all." Conner bit the inside of his cheek, shaking his head. "Unless you desire being left alone to fight for yourself, I suggest you begin believing me."

Conner puffed an exasperated sigh. "Fight. That's right. They'll get you if you decide to be passive."
