Because if they get too close, they're gonna worry too much.. And when they worry, they try coming with me.

And that's not bad. They just want to help.

When they help they end up hurt trying to save me. It's not fair..

It may not be fair, but it's inevitable. Even if they don't come with you, people will still try to help. And that can get them killed just as easily, if not more often, then them trying to help you directly.
