Love and Deepspace- Sylus Story

My boots thump across the floor as I walk into my pitch-black apartment. I close the door behind me and tap my hunter's watch, remotely turning on my room lights down the hall. I sigh and take my boots off, tossing them on the floor by my front door before I trudge off to my bedroom.
I consider running a hot shower, taking the edge off with a nice soak, maybe even doing some yoga, but instead, my body does the only thing it's programmed to do after a long day--toss my hunter uniform onto the floor, slip on my night clothes, and throw myself into bed like a discarded plushie. My back hits the bed with a bounce as I lie down, hair coming undone from my neat bun and unraveling around my shoulders. Just as I get ready to close my eyes, my phone buzzes with a notification. I reach over to the nightstand and swipe my phone up, turning the screen on to see a message from "Crow Boy". The message reads:
"Good morning, or evening for you, morning for me. You didn't answer my messages this morning so this is your timely notice to reply or else I'm sending Mephisto to make sure you're still breathing."
My brain dies for a moment, processing his message and trying to remember why I didn't respond. Maybe I was rushing to get ready for the day. I'm not entirely sure, but after a moment of thought, I begin to text him back. My fingers dance along the keyboard before hitting send. Then I re-read my message.
"Sorry. I was kinda busy today."
I watch as the three dots appear below my message, waiting for Sylus' reply.
"Sorry? That's it? No, "I missed you, Sylus", or "How can I make it up to you?" Perhaps I should send Mephisto anyway."
I message back. "You act like you can't handle 12 hours without me messaging you. You're a real pain." I send the eyes roll emoji afterwards.
His answer dismisses my retort. "I'd say my response is fair when you haven't answered your phone, checked the mail, gone to the grocery store, or fed the stray cats for a week."
My eyes widen. "How did you know that," I quickly message back.
"...I have eyes everywhere, Kitten, not just in the N109 Zone."
I tug my cover over my head before responding. "Well, try to have eyes a little less everywhere. I deserve privacy too, you know."
"Very well. I'll tell Mephisto not to wander to your window so often." Another message comes in before I can send a reply. "But in all due seriousness, I would hope that you are alright. If I find that anyone has done anything to you to make you so reclusive this past week, I'll be dealing with them personally."
I shake my head, trying to suppress a smile. Sylus...he's always like this.
"I'm okay, really. Just busy with Wanderers and reports. I've been swamped, and I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep in touch. I promise to make it up to you on my next day off. Better yet, I'm here now. We can talk."
My eyelids begin to droop just before I get another message. "You're sleepy Mona. Rest."
I sit up and look around, expecting to see him at my windows. Instead, I see Mephisto sitting on my windowsill. I lie back down, not arguing with Sylus.
"We can talk tomorrow before you head out to work," he replies. "'Night, Kitten."
I smile softly and text him back before blacking out. "Goodnight."
