Writing Tips??
Thread Topic: Writing Tips??

Hi, I'm really passionate about fictional writing. Does anyone have writing tips I could use to improvise my stories?? :)

I find that setting the scene and really tapping into a characters emotions and thoughts of what's going on around them can help a lot with your story telling.
you could also have a few shenanigans before the climax to flesh out the characters, make you attached to them and like them instead of "oh, that character died, but why?"
another thing I ask myself when I make stories is how does each action and each character drive the story? stories are like conversations, and conversations are like badminton matches, each swing exhilarating off the other. thing of it like a... rube Goldberg machine. each action driving the story forward.
Don't make a character perfect in an attempts to make people like them. what makes an MC or any other character likable is their flaws. if you have an overly perfect character, there is nothing for the reader to relate too. there is nothing interesting about the character, and if there's nothing to relate too, the character will be hated. there is nothing for the reader to connect to, and if you don't have a likable MC/supporting cast, your reader will likely never pick up your story again.
moral dilemma is also great for fleshing out stories, and mental challenges with your characters as well, for the same reasons of relatibilty above. just do your research, and represent things respectfully.
most importantly, take breaks. your writing significantly depreciates when you're tired or unmotivated. and write what you love, not what's trending.
but I am like... fifteen and I'm writing this at one in the morning, so if this helps you, then great! if not, I don't know, lol. -
Ok thanks @Yukine :)

I'm currently working on a fantasy novel I am trying, but I don't want to make it too much like other already published fantasy books, since I take inspiration and try to make it into my own?
How do I make my stories not to much like another already published? -
well, you just have to think long and hard, make the characters and plot unique, and I don't think it will be too much like another authors work since its purely your story and your writing style is unique to you.

For characters, I like to base them on objects or elements! So, for a basic example, you could use fire and make a person very angry and brash. I use this technique when I don't know what to do for a character. I hope it helps!

Hi! I have only been on gotoquiz for a couple of months. And have been making some quizzes, that I hope help me with my writing.
I want to be an author, and I have written a book.
Its around 20 000 words and it is for young kids. My point of me coming on here though is I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to name books?
I am really struggling with thinking of a name for my book. How does everyone think of a title?
I can't believe that there is actually a forum for this topic, its great!
Thanks
