Working on peregrines story currently.
I hope I’m able to pull off their writing style well. Currently it just reads as me trying to sound like a timeless tale like narnia, but that’s just making it look ridiculously dramatic -
I just want it to flow naturally. I don’t want to worry about how it could or should sound like. I just want it to sound like them, but it might take a couple writing exercises to really get into their head and story

First chapter of peregrines story:
The story of my immortality begins with a sacrifice.
Multiple sacrifices, actually, but I’m getting ahead of myself.
It all started hundreds, almost thousands, of years ago, when humans screwed up. Not the usual screw ups that you and I know all too well, mind you.
This screw up was one of their most powerful kingdoms starting a war with the gods.
You see, gods are pacifists, fine with letting humans do their own thing for the most part, but if you rile them up, they don’t mind showing you just how insignificant the human race is to them.
Mankind had too much pride to back down once they started this war, forcing the gods to take action.
In retaliation against the humans and to keep their sacred forests safe, the gods sent out their secret weapon: Draven, god of balance, justice, protection, and the ruler of the other gods.
Oh, and a shapeshifter as well.
Draven took the form of a new recruit for the human army, with fiery red hair that made them instantly recognizable in a crowd. Draven, using their wit and godly strength, single handedly killed all but 15 of the human army, leaving them with a powerful warning: never test the will of the gods again.
Thankfully, they listened, and a war between the two of them has never occurred again.
The humans now host a celebration of peace and pay tribute to Draven every 15 years, representing the 15 living soldiers. It takes place on the summer solstice, the day the war ended.
As time has passed, the kingdom and cities have changed, along with their Draven-inspired holiday, but one thing has stayed the same.
Every 15 years, on the summer solstice, they choose a child with red hair, much like dravens red hair when they were under disguise, and take it to an altar deep in the Holy Woods, where the gods reside. The fate of the child is left up to Draven themself, to show that humans still remember and honor their warning not to get too prideful.
That’s where I come in.
My name is Peregrine.
I was a sacrifice, raised by Draven and their fellow gods.
This is the story of the 100th sacrifice, more than a thousand years after the War Between the Gods. -
It’s more like a prologue sort of thing, but it still works
