Officially, werewolves and vampires do not exist. Stories about beings who could shift between wolf and human forms, and tales of lecherous humans possessing traits of vampire bats were created to amuse humanity, to frighten children, the like. These stories go back to the dawn of human existence, and had to be true. After all, humanity was the only form of life on this world, right? Officially, there was no special operations group called the Nightstalkers, which therefore could not be entirely comprised of supernatural members. Because such things did not exist, right?
Right, Michael Clarke thought from the bridge of the Eddie Rickenbacker. Clarke looked over the map of the city they were approaching. So he did not exist, neither did the nearly five hundred aboard the flying aircraft carrier Eddie Rickenbacker, and the two already in the city, waiting the go order from him. Michael Clarke was Nightstalker Six, the leader of the new Twenty-Sixth Special Operations Group: The Nightstalkers. Some of his command, mostly the vampires in the unit, did not like their choice of leader, as Clarke was a werewolf. But in the end, all of them were volunteers, who signed up to destroy the people who tried to take over the world, and damn near succeeded.
Clarke concentrated on the map again, the markers showing James Carson and Emily Parks, the sniper team was in position. In their pre-designated position were Dom Caruso and Cala Redwood, his resident two-person mini-army. With one final glance, he looked up at Ashley Coleman, the love of his life. When Clarke met her, what seems like years ago, but was only last January, all of this started happening. Months ago, Clarke was a normal kid. Now, he was in command of the greatest operations force this world has ever seen. With a barely discernible nod, Clarke initiated the Battle of Rio.
