I could get by without a mouse using the Gnome 3 desktop environment on a Debian wheezy computer when I just wanted to open programs etc, I could also navigate the chrome browser without a mouse for simple webpages. But put me on any windows or apple and ask me to open firefox and do something without a mouse and I wouldn't be able to.
