  For me it's traditional.
  
  I have foundations set in coloured pencils and watercolours.

  They were two of the first mediums I took classes on, and my dad (who I got most of my artistic talent from) urged me toward charcoal a lot. I eventually found a lot of his stuff in his art cabinet in the basement and used that.
