This is just something that'll tell you how special redheads are. And maybe an explanation. Because there's a lot of strange things about redheads that make them special. These are just a few facts.

This is just a fun thing I wanted to do. I found all this stuff completely by accident. Like, one of the things that popped up under the google search bar was something like, "10 facts about redheads," or something like that, and I was like, "Hey, I'm a redhead!" And then I did a ton of research, and now I'm an expert.

  1. - Redheads can make their own Vitamin D. They can't absorb it properly, so they produce their own. That's one reason why redheads get sunburned so easily.
  2. -Redheads are able to sense changes in the weather better. They can also adjust to weather changes, because they are more sensitive to hot and cold pain.
  3. - Pain is a strange thing for redheads. They're more sensitive to pain, but have better pain endurance. If they need anesthesia, they need around 20% more of it. But for normal painkillers, like ibuprofen, or something, they don't need as much of it as the average person.
  4. - Redheads are able to handle spicy foods better. They actually injected the chemical that's in hot peppers into redheads, and they hardly reacted to it, whereas the non-redheads did react to it.
  5. - If a redhead dyes their hair, the pigment would first have to be stripped. They have the longest lasting pigment in their hair. Their hair isn't likely to turn gray either. It'll fade into a rose gold, and then to a white.
  6. - 1-2% of the world are redheads, and 17% of redheads have blue eyes.
  7. - Redheaded males are more likely to get Parkinson's disease.
  8. - Red hair is a genetic mutation. The MC1R gene. In order to have a redhead, the gene must be inherited by both sides of the family, and even then, you have a 25% chance of having a redhead.
  9. - Redheads have less hair than blondes or brunettes. Brunettes have an average of 140,000 strands of hair, Blondes 110,000 strands, and redheads, 90,000. But red hair is thicker.
  10. - Redheads are more likely to be left-handed.
  11. - In the United States, National Redhead Day is November 5th.
  12. - Bees are more attracted to redheads. Probably because they look like flowers.
  13. - Redheads are more likely to have sensitive teeth. (I can attest to that.)
  14. - Redheads bruise more easily
  15. - Redheads produce more adrenaline than non-redheads and their bodies access it more speedily, making the transition to the fight-or-flight response more natural for them than for others
  16. - Some people just don't like redheads*the Ancient Greeks thought that redheads had no souls, and thought they would turn into vampires after they died *Many witches would dye their hair red to perform certain rituals *Lots of redheads were burned at the stake for being witches just because they had red hair *During the Spanish Inquisition, some inquisitors claimed that redheads had stolen fires from hell, and were burned to death *Hitler banned marriage with a redhead to prevent “deviant offspring." *Egyptians would bury redheads alive as sacrifices to one of their gods, Osiris *Gingerphobia is the fear of redheads
  17. - They're not sure on this one, but it's been noted that redheads are getting a lot of really important jobs that need lots of brains, so they might even be smarter.
  18. So, now you know about redheads. This was just a fun thing I wanted to do. Hope you liked it!
