Ernest eventually looked down at the dirt, picking up a twig and twirling it around.

Mahina glanced at him.

Ernie looked at Mahina. "What?"

‘Nothing.’

"You know, when people say 'nothing' about something, they don't normally mean it." Ernest pressed.

‘I know,’ Mahina shrugged.

"....So what's up?"

‘The sky.’

Ernie rolled his eyes. "Oh, shush."

Mahina giggled. ‘But it is!’

"Fine, I'll word it differently. What were you thinking about when you said 'nothing'?"

‘That’s none of your business.’

"But I'm curious." Ernie said with a shrug. "Please?"
