'I s'pose,' she shrugged, continuing to walk.

"Well am I wrong?" Theo asked, though not rudely. "Is there something I'm missing?"

'Some of the kids aren't too nice,' Hazel said, voice turning from cold to quiet. 'But maybe that's just me.'

"Oh." Theo said quietly, looking over at Hazel with a sympathetic smile.

Hazel glanced at him. 'But not to me, of course,' she lied, this time trying to seem more confident. 'I have lots of friends.'

"Makes sense. You seem like you'd have a lot of friends."

'Thank you,' she said, relieved he'd bought it.

"You're welcome." He said, grateful that Hazel-Lee seemed less angry.

Hazel-Lee was quiet for a moment. 'Well, my house is just around the corner.'

"Alright." Theo said with a small smile, following Hazel to her house.

They got to her house after a minute of silence. 'Here it is.'

"Nice house." They said, looking at it. It was fairly large, with a black painted door and an upstairs area.

'Thanks, I guess,' Hazel said, returning to her sarcastic tone of voice. She opened the door and held it open with her foot.

Theo walked in, hearing a little kid yell something about a Lego set from the top of the stairs.

'TYRON, STOP KNOCKING OVER LILLA'S LEGO!' Hazel shouted, shutting the door behind her. She had a lot of siblings and cousins. She was the eldest of four, and three of her cousins were staying in her house. They were all around 5-10.
