I walked into my dads room and asked what he was playing. I knew it was my time to shine.
-
"CALL ME DIABLO!" I said, then began to ramble nonsensically for 15minutes about bungou stray dogs lore.

WIP and ignore that its some weird author fanfic that's just what the show is to begin with...

It seemed like a pretty average day within the armed detective agency, the atmosphere buzzing with its usual activity and smell of dark coffee. Sounds of papers rustling filled the air, the mysteries of the cases being investigated printed onto them. There was one person who could always solve cases with a wink and a pose, and this confident detective went by the name of Ranpo Edogawa. But today, he was unable to solve his cases like he would usually. That was because, well…
“I don’t want to get a checkup!” he pouted, a kin to a child. This detective had always been a bit childlike, despite his age of 26 years old. He was currently resisting the routine check up required by the agency and its president, Fukuzawa Fukuchi. His friend-or rather- rival, Edgar Allen Poe, was called by the resident doctor, Akiko Yosano, to come and try to convince the stubborn snack loving detective to let her inspect him.
Yosano sighed. He had always been stubborn. “Come on, dear Ranpo. It can’t really be that bad. Just let Miss Yosano do her work.” Poe pleaded, His own companion, Karl the raccoon, chittering in agreement as he perched on top of his master's shoulders. But nonetheless, Ranpo continued to complain.
“And what do I get out of it?” he grumbled.
“Praise. And perhaps snacks.” Poe responded. Ranpo’s emerald green eyes widened at this.“Praise?” Ranpo echoed, his rival nodded. “And snacks?”
“Only if you agree to the checkup,” Poe responded and Ranpo practically threw himself at Yosano at the thought.
“I’m ready, Akiko! Ready for the checkup!” He said, bouncing excitedly while Yosano just sighed and rolled her eyes, beginning the routine inspection of his health. After a few minutes of checking his blood pressure and reflexes, the doctor braced herself.
“Alright, Ranpo, I need to draw your blood, but I promise it won’t take very long, and you even get a snack afterwards.” Ranpo froze, clearly not keen on needles but not opposing the idea of extra snacks on top of the ones his companion already had promised him. Poe, who had been watching the entire time, suddenly tensed, bracing himself for whatever childish protest would be made.
“Hm… fine.” Ranpo replied, much to Poe’s and Yosano’s surprise. Yosano nodded and rolled up his sleeve, wiping the skin and applying the tourniquet to the spot above it. “Don’t tell me when.” he said, and Karl leaped from Poe's shoulders to curl onto Ranpo’s lap, sensing his nervousness. Ranpo absentmindedly stroked the racoon's fur with his free hand, while Poe moved to place a comforting hand onto his rival's shoulder.
Yosano nodded and began the procedure, Ranpo’s eyes shut tighter than usual, before wrapping a bandage around the puncture site after a few seconds. “There,” she said, and ranpo peaked an eye open. “That was quick.” He observed, and Yosano nodded.
As Yosano went to retrieve Ranpo’s promised reward, Poe spoke up suddenly from a deep space of thought. “You know,” he said with a faraway look. “My sister knew quite a bit about blood.” The room fell silent as Ranpo’s glimmering green eyes peaked at him again.
“Sister?” he sputtered. “You. have. A. Sister?” Poe blinked at him beneath his fluffy bangs which concealed his face. Ranpo, in utter shock, just stared at Poe while Karl chittered inquisitively.
Poe adjusted his collar. “Why, of course I do. Or did. She passed away a couple of years ago.” he said, and Karl gave a somber nod, as if he was able to understand the somberness of the statement. Ranpo’s expression softened.
“Oh” Ranpo said, and the room settled into another heavy silence as Yosano returned with a juice box in hand. She handed it to the detective before returning to work. Poe helped Ranpo up and Karl leaped from the latter's lap, skittering between them.
“Now, about those snacks I promised you.” Poe said, effectively changing the topic. Ranpo grinned mischievously, but the moment was interrupted as they walked out into the hall to hear Kunikida’s usual shouting at Dazai, who was lazing on the couch. “Rellaaaax, Kunikidaaa.” he said, dragging out his words in a lazed manner. “I’m sure Ranpo and his friend could solve it.”
“Rivals!” Poe corrected defensively as Karl jumped to perch on his shoulders. Ranpo tilted his head “ohh, another case? What is it this time?”
Dazai sat up, suddenly turning serious. “There’s been a series of unexplained murders. The victims were found in pools of their own blood. No wounds whatsoever.” Kunikida nodded, robotically handing them a case file filled with the graphic evidence images.
“People don’t just bleed to death like this. And the number of victims keeps rising. We need you to solve the case with Ultra-Deduction, ranpo,” Kunikida said, referring to his ability, which (most) members of the Armed Detective Agency were gifted with. Ranpo himself did not have a special gift, but the Agency humored the idea that he did, since he did his work so remarkably well, they led him to believe that it was his supernatural power.
Ranpo grinned. “No case is too hard for me. Come on, Eddie!" he exclaimed, and with that, he dragged his rival out into the streets, who clutched the case file, whose protests were futile.
“We should go to the last crime scene, because that's more than likely where the perpetrator will still be.” Ranpo explained. “Good thinking, Ranpo.” Poe nodded as they neared the scene which was disclosed within the manilla case file in Poe’s arms. As they approached, Ranpo waved exaggeratedly
“Hey Minoura!” Minoura, the senior police officer who frequently crossed paths with the armed detective agency. Although he held a hint of exasperation for the bunch, he still felt due respect for them, even if he did question some methods for the ability users. -
