Random lore from my book:
Reginald was a college student, studying medicine. but when world war 1 broke out, he decided he didn't want to be drafted and faked his death in the most dramatic way possible via explosion. (though it backfired and now he's scarred by the explosion)
And after he faked his death, he turned to a life of crime, eventually becoming pretty much a gang leader and mafia boss, with a considerable amount of money. he started to build his speakeasy when one day, a family came to him begging for his help.
their fourteen year old son had fallen terribly ill and they couldn't afford to pay for his medical expenses.Reginald, who never finished medical school 💀 decided to give them money and point them in the way of a doctor, who cured Lucas, the sick kid, as long as they could pay him back in a month (jeez that's harsh)
well wouldn't you know it, they couldn't pay it back. so he unalived lucas's parents, then had Lucas join his speakeasy, and Lucas had to take care of his brother and sister, Cyrus and Emma.
in 1924, when Lucas turned 17, it seemed like Emma had died in a gang fight, and Lucas escaped from Reginald and join the other speakeasy. Cyrus joined Reginald's speakeasy, feeling betrayed and wishing to get revenge, but after two years or so, they discovered Emma wasn't dead, lots of drama. -
