"The fact is, no matter what happens..." She said, twisting the ring around her finger. "This will stay here till the day I die. "No matter what happens, and not matter what battle you may face, or I will face; this ring stays here."
She looked at him, tears in her eyes. His fate had already been decided, as he had been called into a war that they both knew wasn't going to end in their favor. -
He stood there, looking at her. The ring that he had proposed with was still on her finger. He watched as she fiddled with it for a moment. He understood her concern, and if he had a choice in the matter he would stay here and protect her.
"I know." He said, looking at her with a slight smile. He walked over to her, putting his arms around her shoulders. "Everything will be okay. I promise." His mind flooded with past memories. What if this was the last time that he got to see her? -
