it's so empathetic towards the "insane" people in the "madhouse", which is surprising since it's an older play. If anything, the truly insane people are the ones who AREN'T residents of that home, the "normal" people. It makes you empathize with the characters in a way that's rare, even for a theater production. It's one of those socially aware performances, like Rent or Tick Tick Boom (if you were to compare it to a musical, even though it isn't)

The Curious Savage is honestly one of the most empathetic screenplay I've ever read. It's one where you finish the show a truly changed person, and I absolutely adore it for that
