As I grew darker, he reddened, and I deemed it innocence flourishing from somewhere beneath his cheeks. I did not see the pure darkness in him, as translucent things are difficult to see. He hid it behind peach-colored skin that I told him I was lucky to feel. But I was only able to feel it for an hour each day.
