  It's between Hell and Heaven or is beneath a level from Hell. The dead spirit is sent there to suffer, they aren't bad enough to go the depths of hell or good enough to go to heaven. So they go there to purify themselves to finally be sent to Heaven.
  This is where I learned on what purgatory is,

They had partied and made alot of reckage and Jesus wonders why the hell are they even here, but Hell is still recovering from Dante's attack and Purgatory is for dips--- Catholics which clearly you aren't one, so you end up going back to Earth, alive.' Or it was something else.
