Thread Topic: I was talking to a woman

Than she started preaching to me about the bible and I was there for like 20 mins because I didn't wanna turn her down
It felt so awkward since I'm an agnostic Athiest jajdbd -
I hate when that happens.
-
She's really nice but then I had to lie and nod along because only my bro and a few friends know I'm Athiest and then she talked about bringing me to church and I'm internally saying "f---"
-
Wow. Hi
-
Hi @.@
-
I just give them some excuse like "I have to go get ready for work" or something.
-
I know how you feel, technially I'm considered agnostic. But whenever I'm dragged to church I either have an allergic reaction or a panic attack
-
I was enjoying the convo we were havig before and then she quickly changed to church and religion and I'm just like damn. I didn't wanna be rude
Yeah I really don't wanna go to church it's too boring for me -
I tense up in conversation about God and religion.
I know what you mean by the people being fairly nice. A couple of mormon girls stopped here once to ask if I had questions. Talked for a couple minutes, then I eased into the fact that I had exams, and they were all like cool and let me get back to my stuff. -
I felt so awkward though and I'm more polite and nice in person and I didn't wanna hurt her feeeelings
-
I know. But being a young person, you can kindly, and with a reasonable one, get out of a conversation with an excuse.
-
Well it just didn't feel right to me, I guess.
It also seemed like she enjoyed talking about it so I took the time to listen -
I can understand that. But you shouldn't be afraid to tell someone that you believe in another religion or something. Although, telling a theist that you're an Atheist makes them try to convince you otherwise sometimes. Some theists will be like "Oh okay" while others will try to convince you to believe what they believe.
-
Well, I'm living in the country and she was an elderly woman so I'm kinda like "okay what if she has that 1950's point of view"
And if I tell people in my school it might spread and get to my father. I honestly don't know his view on religions because he doesn't force us to go to church and doesn't seem that religious.
It's more if like, I'm not afraid they'll try to convince me.
I'm afraid they'll harass me or shun me or even get aggressive since being in the rural area with darker skin doesn't help. -
I see. That sucks though.
I feel like your dad is like my mom. He believes in something, but just doesn't practice it (go to church, pray, all the religious actions). You should try asking what his views on religion are sometime.
