While "Matt Olsson Brainrot" may not be popular, it's certainly unusual.

"Matt Olsson Brainrot" refers to a meta-absurd trend on GoToQuiz for entertainment purposes only, albeit being intentionally cringe, nonsensical, absurd, profane, and sometimes even blasphemous, that started in mid-late 2024 and supposedly continuing on in mid-late 2025. The "Matt Olsson" persona isn't real. It originally began in mid-late 2024 and it is an ongoing trend on GoToQuiz that may be made by many other users on GoToQuiz, who knows.
- There are only five main cartoon characters in the "Matt Olsson Brainrot" lore overall. If there were other characters beforehand, please note that they have all been scrapped, deleted, and removed. The five characters are none other than Andrew Zhu, Anna Yu, Elegans (the Protobothrops Elegans who can talk and play the trumpet), Lloyd Chan, and Mel Grimson (he/him/his).
- The setting is always in Santa Clara, CA 95051, most notably Lloyd Chan's 1,200 sq. ft, 2 bed, 1 bath house. Please remember that while "Matt Olsson" isn't real, these five characters all belong to their respective character creators (albeit names unknown), as they are responsible for expanding the lore (albeit only five characters).
- Anyway, so the five cartoon characters (Andrew Zhu, Anna Yu, Elegans (the Protobothrops Elegans), Lloyd Chan, and Mel Grimson) are to be discussed today.
- "Matt Olsson Brainrot" is an unusual type of brainrot, where five meta-aware main cartoon characters (and only these five, no other character in the trend is aware that they are a character or in a trend, or aware of the episodes). The five are obviously Andrew Zhu, Anna Yu, Elegans (the Protobothrops Elegans), Lloyd Chan, and Mel Grimson. The nature of this trend can be described as unrealistic, meta-aware, meta-absurd, cringe, contradictory, and confusing. There are a total of five main cartoon characters overall, and all five of them can be annoying. Elegans is the "fan favorite" in the trend, however.
Santa Clara, CA 95051 is the truly very only setting in "Matt Olsson Brainrot". It is home to four main locations, in the context of the trend and the episodes. 1: Lloyd Chan's 1,200 sq. ft, 2 bed, 1 bath house. 2: Andrew Zhu's parents' house (albeit only off-screen, mentioned). 3: The exact same local public park (mostly off-screen, occasionally on-screen for some of Lloyd Chan's "absurd events", mentioned). 4: The concert hall Elegans slithers to for his lead trumpeter career (mostly off-screen, on-screen in one episode, for Lloyd Chan's "Attend Elegans's Trumpet Concerto Performance In-Person"-based event).
- Lloyd Chan literally owns his truly very own 1,200 sq. ft, 2 bed, 1 bath house in Santa Clara, CA 95051. Elegans (the Protobothrops Elegans who can talk and play the trumpet), Anna Yu (Lloyd Chan's romantic and playful girlfriend), and Mel Grimson (he/him/his) (the dolt) all live there with Lloyd Chan.
- The three (Anna Yu, Elegans (the Protobothrops Elegans), and Mel Grimson) are all Lloyd Chan's roommates. Lloyd Chan calls them their "permanent roommates". - Andrew Zhu is known for his self-sabotaging lifestyle: Only 1-2 showers per week, going to sleep at an unreasonably late time, and also intentionally not pursuing any further education (after he barely managed to graduate high school).
