"Love" is a very general word, meant to portray a variety of different emotions. "I love my dog," is miles apart from, "I love my parents," though we tend to use both expressions often. The English language only has one word for Love, whereas the Greeks have split up this diverse emotion into four different words: Eros(AIR-ose), Philos(FYE-loes), Agape(ah-GAHP-ai), and Storge(STORE-gay).
