  1. Devin leans towards you and begins to tell you how you both met. “Where I come from, you’re famous beyond belief. I mean REALLY famous. Your face is everywhere, so naturally when you were running from the paparazzi I took notice” he shakes his head smiling. “You managed to lose them, but you had nowhere to go because they figured out where you lived. So I graciously offered you to come to my sanctuary for the night.” He explains. “Which is?” you ask. “My apartment and you agreed. But I think that was entirely because I’m so good looking” he teases. You shove him a little, “you’re not THAT good looking” you tease. He clutches to his chest “AH I think my heart just ripped from my chest! How could you say that” he dramatically faints as you laugh so hard your cheeks start to hurt. He gets up and you immediately want to hear more “So then what happened?” you ask intrigued. “Well you couldn’t keep your hands off me and so I tried to be reasonable but you didn’t listen. So I had no other choice but to knock you out and throw you off a cliff” he says.
  2. “You’re making that up” you say raising your eyebrow. He smiles “Yup, yeah in reality you thanked me and then you went to bed. I woke up the next morning and you were gone… but after that I tried to find you again because you forgot something” he explains. “What did I forget?” you ask. He points at your necklace, “That… hey when did you get that anyways?” he asks. You hold it and trace along the intricate designs on the old fashioned key, “I found it in my drawer with a note saying it’s mine now… but you know what the weird thing is. It was in my dream, and it saved my life” you say seriously. Devin widens his eyes and whistles loudly, “That key is seriously putting the moves on you. How on earth can I compete with rescue in your dreams?” he jokes.
  3. “Devin this is serious, I have no idea what this key is for or who even gave it to me… but the strangest thing is it smells like caramel and I have no idea why” you say. Devin gives you a look like you just went crazy. “Can I smell it?” he asks. You take it off and give it to him; he sniffs it deeply but shakes his head in confusion. “I can’t smell any caramel, but I can smell cinnamon” he says handing it back to you. You shake your head, “No it doesn’t its caramel. The scent is so strong I feel like I’m breathing it in all the time” you say taking a deep breath and smelling the sweet sugary scent surrounding the key. Devin shakes his head, “No it’s definitely cinnamon … are you feeling okay or are you just messing with me?” he asks. You put the necklace around your neck, “Maybe it’s just the wind… yeah that’s it” you say nervously. “I probably smell some caramel from a far off candy store” you lie. Devin smirks, “There’s no candy stores around here. You don’t look like you’re messing with me… wait how can you smell caramel on a key… it’s a key… and how can I smell cinnamon on the key?” he says obviously confused.
  4. You start to panic “am I insane? How come I can smell the caramel but not him?” your thoughts blur into each other and you run downstairs. You find Carol and Warren coming in from training and before they can even say “Hi” you yell “YOU CAN SMELL CARAMEL ON THIS RIGHT?” you ask in a panicky voice. Carol sniffs it and then immediately snatches it up and sniffs it like it’s made from heaven. “OH MY GOD IT’S-“she deeply breathes it in “IT SMELLS LIKE CHERRIES” she says. Warren takes the key, and instead of sniffing it he inspects it. “This is… odd. Where did you get this?” he asks. You take it back from him, “I found it in my drawer with a note saying it’s mine now. It saved my life in my dream… I actually felt like the dream was real and… and… it SAVED me” you explain. Warren scratches his head “I don’t think it’s a tracking device, otherwise somebody would’ve found us by now. I have no idea what exactly it is though. My only guess is it’s some sort of… mystical artifact.” He says. You look at it and you can’t really tell what era the key is even from. “Hey Warren… what do you smell?” you ask. He sighs, “I smell Coconut… interesting how we all smell different things. Anyways, it doesn’t matter right now. We need to get you trained.” He says heading for the back door.
  5. Carol tugs your arm quickly “If he asks you a question, just say YES” she tells you. Before you can even ask her why, she shoves you outside. You look at the obstacle course, there’s the balance beam, the dodge ball shooter, the moving monkey bars, and a wall with a rope. “You’re not going hard on me… right?” you ask jokingly. Warren smirks at you “_____, this is simple. Just go through the course as fast as you can without hurting yourself, okay?” he says. You nod “sure… piece of cake” you start at the balance beam. You fall down the first three times but you get the hang of it and manage to reach the end on the fourth try. Warren nods in approval, “Okay, now try to run across it” he says as if it was the easiest thing to do. “WHAT?” you protest. “When would I ever have to run across a beam?” you ask. “As much as it sounds corny, you never know what could happen. I’d rather you slave over this and never do it in an actual emergency instead of dying from lack of effort.” He says. You look at him, “Warren, can you stay close when I fall?” you ask him politely. Warren nods, “I always have” he says shrugging. He stays close to the bar and you start to stand on it. You breathe slowly and take three steps. You look at Warren and something in those eyes of his give you strength, a sudden rush of adrenaline surges through you like lightning. You sprint along the balance beam. You don’t even falter or trip! It was amazing. You jump down gracefully and start to celebrate. “Oh My GOD Warren did you see me? I totally made it on the first try!” you start to do a little victory dance that gets Warren to laugh a bit. You realize Warren’s laugh is actually pretty cute… in a weird but comforting way, it’s actually REALLY cute. You try to shake your head in denial; no way could you think that… this was WARREN. Just then Warren leads you to the next course.
  6. “Okay, I’m going to set this on the lowest rank and then go up from there” he sets it to 1 and the machine reeves up. You get your game face on and wait, and then a ball shoots directly at you. You dodge it perfectly and then another and another. Only one ball comes out at a time and it’s extremely easy. “Can we turn the puppy up please? I’m falling asleep here” you joke. Warren turns it up to 2, you also do that pretty well, he turns it to 3, and then 4, which you do pretty well. It’s not until he turns it to 5 that you feel like every other second you’re getting hit with a ball. Warren stops the machine and walks over to you, “Okay ______, try to stay low and keep your eye on the ball” he says. “That’s what I’m doing” you say. He sighs, “Then try to imagine the balls coming towards you in slow motion, but don’t stick your arms out” he says. “Why?” you ask. “Just don’t okay?” he says. You shrug and go back to the machine. You try to picture the first ball coming to you in slow motion, the round innocent little ball heading towards your stomach. You dodge it easily, and the next one, and the next one! Soon you feel as if you’re dodging every single ball that comes your way. Warren turns it off and smiles approvingly. “Good, now on to the monkey bars” he says already heading for them. You feel you’re out of breath but you follow him anyways.
  7. “So you can climb regular monkey bars right?” he asks. You think back to what Carol said earlier and just shrug “Yeah” you reply. “Good” he turns a switch and the monkey bars move, it looks extremely difficult. “You ready?” he asks. You gulp and nod, “S-s-sure” you stutter. Warren goes over to you, “______, I’m not an idiot. I know it looks hard but you CAN do it. I have faith in you and it’s just practice… so are you ready?” he says looking into your eyes. Guilt scalding your heart is diffused with hope and determination when looking in his eyes. You narrow your eyes and ball your hands into fists. “I’m ready” you say. You jump on the first bar and continue to climb as best you can, it’s not until you get halfway that you miss the bar and fall down. Warren immediately catches you and without a single word spoken he lifts you back to where you fell off. You manage to get the bar this time and finally finish. “WHOO HOOO I did it!” you cheer. Warren gives you a high five, “good job. We only have one left” he points to the wall. It's pretty tall and intimidating to look at. You brush your hair away from your face and look at it with no fear in your eyes. “Alright wall… YOU’RE GOING DOWN” you say as you grab the rope. You climb it as best as you can, you feel heat surge through your arms and you feel like they’re going to fall off. You keep climbing though, because you just keep thinking of the comfort and hope in Warren’s eyes. “I can’t let him down” you think to yourself. “I have to do this, I have to” you keep thinking. Before you realize it you’ve made it to the top. You laugh and raise your arms in the air “I DID IT!!!!!!” you yell as loud as you can. You can barely see Warren from where you’re standing. You suddenly feel fatigue coming over you and you fall down. You know Warren will catch you anyways. You land in his arms and feel his heartbeat racing. You look up at him “Thanks for catching me” you say sleepily. “Anytime” he says and carries you inside.
  8. You want to get up but your muscles and legs are sore from all the training. You feel silk being wrapped around you and you know you’re being put in your bed. You slowly open your eyes and see Warren’s face again. For the first time, you notice how attractive he actually looks. Golden blonde hair, a comforting smile, and those ocean blue eyes… you feel as if you could look into them forever. You don’t of course, because your eyelids close and you drift off into a peaceful sleep.

  10. You wake up to the sound of rocks hitting your window; you stretch and slowly get out of bed. It’s still night time so you look to see who it is. Seth is just about to throw another rock when he realizes that you’re by the window. He waves. You wave back but then shrug. He mouths the word “open” and points to the window. You open the window and give him a look “What time is it?” you ask grumpily. “______ I have to talk to you, in private… can you come outside please?” he begs. You roll your eyes, “fine, but this better be good. For once I was getting some sleep.” You say.
  11. You tiptoe down the stairs to the front door and grab your shoes to head outside. You walk over to Seth who’s on the porch. “What is it Seth?” you ask. He grabs his guitar from behind the chair he’s sitting on and strums the song you heard him play before. “I made a song for you… and I’ve wanted to sing it to you for a while but…” he blushes. “I just didn’t know when the right time would be.” He starts playing the beautiful song again and you can’t help but have your breath taken away by the way he sang it to you. Now you know the true meaning behind all the lyrics, and you slowly feel your heart mend itself again. “Seth HAS changed” you think to yourself. “He’s sorry for what he’s done and he CARES about me. Nobody who’s mean would write ME a song… nobody has even done that for me” you think feeling tears drop from your cheeks. You slowly dance around again like when you first met him. You remember how shy he was, and how flattered he looked when you told him you liked his peaceful melody. His big chocolate eyes blinking in surprise, how his black hair fell in front of his face. You remember listening to the song the first time, being swept up in the song again was like riding a roller-coaster twice in a row.
  12. You stop dancing as Seth finishes the precious ballad looking right at you. As he says your name and his name in his sweet British accent you hug him silently crying. “______, I’m sorry about what happened in the past. Please forgive me” he says. You hug him tighter “Seth, I know you’re not a bad person… we all make mistakes right.” You say to him. “I forgive you” you whisper in his ear. You feel his sigh of relief, as if he was holding it inside for centuries. “Thank you” he whispers back. You wipe away his tears and look him in the eyes, “its okay Seth… that’s a lovely song you wrote. You’re such a good singer” you say. He smiles a bit “thanks” he mumbles. You give him a comforting smile “everything’s going to be okay…” you feel his arms wrap around you and you can’t remember how to breathe. You both lean in, a longing passion flows inside of you. But then you look at him and his eyes are wide open in fear. “What is it?” you ask. Before he can answer he grabs you and launches you to the grass as a flying projectile hits the front door. Suddenly you hear a heart stopping beeping noise ticking away. You and Seth look up and see it’s a missile shaped bomb wedged deep into the door with a three minute countdown.
  13. You both look at each other with panic and you run inside up the stairs. You barge into Carol’s room first, “Carol wake up!” you yell and pull the covers off of her. “What is it?” she asks groggily. “BOMB” you yell shaking her by the shoulders. Her eyes widen in panic and she gets up. “Wake up the others!” you order. She runs into Warren’s room since it’s the next one over and you run into Devin’s room. “DEVIN WAKE UP!!!” you yell. He turns over and looks at you like you’re a psycho but you yell in his ear “BOMB!!!” and he pulls you out the door in literally 4 seconds. You find that Carol has woken up Warren and you order the others to leave immediately while you wake Noah. “No” Warren says. “I’ll do it, you have to get out of here NOW” he says. You shake your head, “There’s no way I’m leaving without Noah” before he can say anything you run into his room but you find he’s already awake. “I heard the yelling, there’s no time to waste” he ushers you out the door as you’re all running down the stairs.
  14. Once you’re all outside you see a tank and a lot of vans heading towards the house along with armed soldiers and a helicopter hovering over all of you with a trained headlight. “WE FOUND HER” the man in the helicopter said. The heat boils into your skin and you start to run towards the house. You open the garage and find Warren and Seth’s cars. “EVERYONE GET IN THE CARS” you yell. Warren shows up right beside you in a millisecond (because of his super speed) and users you in his car. Seth runs right behind him going into his car. Carol and Noah get in with you, which leaves Devin going into Seth’s car. “DRIVE” Carol screams and Warren hits the gas and drives as quickly as possible away from the house.
  15. The helicopter is still hovering above Warren and Seth’s cars as the military gets closer and closer to you. “SETH” Devin yells. “SLOW IT DOWN A BIT” as Seth slows the car down you can’t help but watch in amazement as Devin stands up from his seat and shoots fire from his hands at the helicopter’s tail blade. The man inside is yelling “ABORT ABORT” while it crashes just behind Seth’s car and explodes sending debris and heat towards the cars. Seth gives Devin the wheel and shoots water from his hands submerging the inferno to nothing but smoke. You can clearly see the damage, and your heart drops when you see blood spattered all over the cracked windows of the helicopter.
  16. You barely have time to think of anything else when Warren brakes and does a quick U-turn away from the gaining soldiers shooting directly at you. You look behind you and see the army is following the car from a distance. “WARREN, DO YOU HAVE ANY SHOOTING POWERS? THEY’D COME IN HANDY RIGHT ABOUT NOW” Carol freaks out. Her hair looks scorched at the ends; you look at yours and your heart falls when some of it is also scorched as well. “I don’t have any ‘shooting powers’ but I can do this” Warren gives the wheel to Noah and stands on top of the car. “Alright then, let’s get down to business” he mumbles to himself as he reaches his hands towards the earth. Suddenly the earth split right below the tank and the vans sending them into the ground, but the rest of the soldiers were still gaining on you. “Well that kind of worked” Noah says shrugging. Warren pushes him out of the way and starts driving again. “Hey Noah, make yourself useful and throw whatever you were making this morning” Warren says. “You mean the non-toxic glow sticks?” Noah asks. “No the OTHER thing” Warren says a bit irritated. “Oh you mean the raisin missiles?” Noah asks. “Yeah that” Warren says. Noah grabs a little case from his pocket and opens it. It extends to be a launching system and he inserts missile-like containers into the launcher. “FIRE” he yells as the raisin missiles fly into the air and land splattering raisins at deadly speeds knocking out soldiers and damaging their weapons. You and Carol look at the bizarre scene with your jaws dropped. You both look at each other. “I’m never eating raisins again” Carol says looking at the surprising damage.
  17. You both duck as gunfire is still being shot and now more vans have come in with machine guns on the roofs. You see a massive tidal wave knocking one of the vans away and a stream of fire being thrown towards the other soldiers. The other van heads for Seth and Devin. You look at Devin and see he’s mooning the van and making faces at it. You see the van rapidly firing at them instead of you.
  18. Seth and Devin drive away from you and you feel relieved for a millisecond. Only a few soldiers remain, but they’ve managed to reach and grab onto the car. You and Carol try and push them off but their strength totally outweighs both of you combined. One soldier stands on the car and grabs you by the neck pointing his gun at your face. “Pull over now, or she dies” he says to Warren. You kick the guy in the balls and he falls off the car screaming in pain. You manage to catch his gun and start shooting at the other soldiers. Carol starts yelling insults at the guys like “You thought it was going to be THAT easy? OH NO YOU DIDN’T You want a piece of this? Prepare to die Nazi scum! DUCK Oh you think you can throw a grenade in here? How about this?” she throws the grenade right back at the guy and cheers. “how do ya like me now suckers? Huh? You want a piece of Carol? I didn’t think so!” she continues to trash talk the soldiers you fire at the soldiers until they’re all dead. “Warren stop the car… I think we won” you say. Then you hear a gut wrenching explosion from far away. Your heart drops as you realize it’s the mansion being blown to smithereens from the bomb. “No… they did” Warren says flatly.
  19. He turns around and heads back to get Seth and Devin. You eventually see them driving away from the van, both firing everything they’ve got. “WE’VE GOT TO HELP THEM” you yell. Without a second to lose, Warren speeds over behind the van. “Noah drive for me” he orders Noah as he stands up. He holds both of his hands out and does an upward motion. Suddenly the earth rises right into the van in a spike form and lifts it towards the sky. “Hey Noah… you got any more of those raisin things?” Warren asks. “Only one left” Noah says. “Shoot it” Warren narrows his eyes at the van. Noah sets it up and you and Carol are hugging each other in fear. Noah shoots it up and it lands on the van. You can barely see that high up, but you see raisins on fire landing on the ground from an explosion. The rock cracks and Warren drives away with Seth and Devin following right behind.
  20. “So now what are we going to do?” Carol asks. Warren parks at a convenience store, “We have to get some food for tomorrow… then find a new place to live” he gets out of the car and pulls out a wallet. “I’ve got two hundred dollars on me, what do you guys have?” he asks nonchalantly. Everyone blinks in surprise. “When did you get that much cash?” Devin asks. “Someone had to pay the mortgage for that mansion. I’ve been working on the next payment and right now, I have two hundred dollars… so what do you guys have?” he asks. Seth pulls out twenty bucks, Noah pulls out one hundred, and Devin pulls out ten bucks. “Oh wait, I think I have some money” Carol exclaims. She reaches into her pocket and pulls out ten bucks. “I don’t have anything” you say raising your hands in surrender, “I’m sorry I just woke up and found out there was a bomb I don’t typically bring cash” you say.
  21. “Well this should be enough for a few weeks, but we’re going to have to work together on this” Warren says collecting the cash. “Someone should wait here by the cars” Warren orders. “I will” you volunteer, “I might puke from what happened tonight” you say feeling dizzy. “I’ll stay with her” Carol says. “Okay, we won’t be long” Warren walks in the store with the rest of the guys. Carol looks at you grinning mischievously, “Okay, so which guy do you like?” she asks. “Carol how on earth can you think of guys at a time like this?” you ask. “Just answer the question silly, it won’t kill you” she says giggling. “Well… I don’t know but… I was about to kiss Seth tonight” you admit. “Oooh, I knew you liked him” she squeals. “Well… I’m not sure yet. I mean they’re all amazing. I think I might need more time” you say sheepishly. Carol gives you a look “Honey, you were almost killed tonight, the faster you pick one the better” she says crossing her arms. “Carol… that’s not important right now…” realizing the responsibility on your shoulders you lift your head towards the glimmering stars. You see the brilliance of the night sky and say to her “the only thing that matters is surviving the burden I’m in… because I already survived them. I need to focus on surviving myself” you say holding the caramel scented key close to your heart you look right at Carol “I need answers, and no guy can distract me from the truth as long as I live. Information right now is life or death… everything is life or death... everything”
