Question of the Day is in the results as usual, and I would really love if before the series ends we make it to the front page? I don't know, just a suggestion. (:

  1. Alex and Christofer were feeding off each other's power, creating a sort of gravitational force field between them and the Berd. It was much bigger than the one they have fought before. The serum, Alex thought, was probably why. The Berd screeched off into the air, its foul breath filling the boys' nostrils with a horrible stench filled with blood and decay. Christofer tossed Alex his sword while he loaded his harpoon gun. "The eyes," he said, aiming it at the creature. Alex nodded, holding the sword in the air with his telekinesis. Then, Christofer hopped onto the Berd's back, removing the harpoon reluctantly and stabbed the Berd right in the eye before it bucked him off. Christofer hit the wall with a big boom, while the Berd thrashed around, confused by the sudden blindness. Alex pushed the sword through the air with all his power, nabbing the Berd in the other eye, almost missing. Christofer got up instantly, the Berd not knowing what was happening. Then it died. Poof. Just like that.
  2. It fell to the ground, almost teetering on its feet before falling down with a thud. Christofer was clenching his fist in front of him. "What did you do?" Alex asked, dazed. "Crushed its heart with my gravity." He looked pale and woozy. It must have taken him a lot of power, so Alex thought. "Where's..." They both turned around simultaneously and saw _____ and Oath laying down on the ground, unconscious. The boys could still make out the steady rhythm of their hearts beating, but it was like they were in a coma. Alex and Christofer ran towards her, not caring for Oath at the moment. Alex reached in to check her pulse when his hand touched an invisible barrier. Confused, Christofer ran to Oath and tried kicking him. His foot hit something hard in the air, not seen by the human eye. "What happened?" he murmured under his breath. Christofer heard Alex sigh. "Great. Now what do we do?" Christofer went over by the fireplace and stuck his hand where Oath kept his wine stash. He grabbed two bottles, one in each arm, and placed them by the fire. "We make a plan."
  3. "What do you mean?" I asked, backing away. "You seem to underestimate my power as a Nephilim," Oath started. He started walking towards me, my back up against a dead end. "You are inside my head. At least, your conscious is." He took another sip of wine. "You stupid girl. It's better off if you just died. It's better off if I just kill you. It will be better than having Zathara ripping your soul piece by piece, devouring it like a hungry animal." He got closer, his grin spreading from ear to ear like the Joker. "why are you doing this?" I asked meekly. He laughed, the sound bouncing off the maze walls. "It's the game, my dear. It's just the game."
  4. Oath was taking satisfaction in toying with the girl. She had no way to get out. She was in his world, and he could control everything. Everything except that Reform living inside her. He put the bottle of wine to his lips and took a big gulp of it. "Zathara, darling," he said. "Come out and play. Giving up so easily?" He spread his arms wide and tossed the bottle aside, the glass shattering against the wall. "Go on! Kill me! I'd like to see you try." Suddenly the girl started shaking. A black curtain came over her eyes, a dark light casting over her. "Don't be a fool, Robert," Zathara's voice said. "I would have killed you a long time ago, but I needed your body. Don't be flattered. I've had enough of you." Then, the girl's arm flew out, and oath was hurled backwards into the maze. He got up with a grin and pointed his hands, where a volt of lightning sparked out like the sun. It should have killed her. But it didn't. Zathara managed to counter it with her own black magic. Oath was forced into the sky, Zathara watching with demented eyes. "I'll finally get the body I want," she said. With that, Oath dropped from the sky, hitting the top of a wall with a sickening crunch; his jaw sticking out in an uncomfortable looking position, teeth scattered around the dirt like seeds, blood painting the walls. Zathara felt the connection happening all at once, and she smiled, her gaze never leaving Oath's twisted up remainings. "It's a game, my friend. Merely just a game. And it seems that you have finally lost." She laughed to the sky. "Game over."
  5. I smelled something burning. I was still blacked out, and I could barely remember anything except Oath's dead body. I sat up, my nostrils definitely smelling something on fire. I heard my name being called and saw Christofer and Alex standing by the fireplace. Wine bottles were shattered everywhere, and a big fire was ablaze around the whole place. I got up fast and ran towards them. "What are you guys doing?" A big roar came from the great inferno, and Christofer grabbed my hand. "We have to burn this place down. Oath is strong, and he'll just come back if we don't burn him. When a Nephilim dies, their soul reached out of their body and belongs to the place where they die." I narrowed my eyes, looking from Alex to Christofer. "How did you guys know he was dead?" Alex pointed to the ground beyond me. I turned around and stood there, awestruck. Oath was lying on the floor, the same way he had been before. Then it hit me. I didn't kill him. Zathara did. And then as if on cue, I fell to the ground, my knees buckling and mind getting fuzzy. This was it, I thought. The change is happening.
  6. I guess all the things that had happened had led us all to his moment. I knew something was wrong with me when I heard first heard the voice. It was my fault for waiting too long to acknowledge it. I felt like my mind was a city. A city with bright lights, shining out, illuminating the night sky. My mind was a city that slowly closing down for the night. You know when bits of lights turn off section by section until there's nothing left but tidbits? That's how I felt at the moment. I felt myself being torn in some way—getting lost and falling down and zig-zagging. My eyes were still open though, and I could see Christofer and Alex's concerned faces, flashing of orange and red parading behind them. I felt myself being carried off into someone's arms. I could only see the ceiling, but my ears could hear shouts and yells and screams and all of this commotion happening that just made me get a headache. Smoke filled my nostrils, surprisingly making me feel a little better. 'It's too late,' Zathara whispered. 'There's nothing you can do.'
  7. In stories and movies they always tell you about all these attributes of being a hero. For example: Sacrifice. And in the movies there's always that one scene where everybody thinks the main character dies and it's all dramatic with the really epic music playing. But it's all fake. When you're in a spot where you only have two options, it's really hard to think. I've made plenty of mistakes on this journey. I've made plenty of mistakes, period. I also know what it's like to lose people you care about. It hurts a lot. And I know that I shouldn't want to cause this hurt because it eats at you with invisible teeth, trying to break you into little pieces. But it was the only thing I could think to make up for myself. So I decided. I got the Nostalgia from my belt and the healing potion in my other hand. I reached out my hands and felt somebody grab them from me.
  8. "What is this?" I heard Alex's voice ask. I didn't choose to reply. "Put me down," I told whoever was carrying me, which I assumed was Christofer. "No. The place is on fire and the Change is happening. You're too weak." I sighed. "Please. I think I'm going to—" "I'm not risking anything." I figured he wasn't going to put me down. So I did the only thing that I could think of. "I want Alex to carry me." He slowed down. "What? Why?" I didn't want to look him in the eye. "I feel safer in his arms." There was a pause until Christofer finally said something. "Fine."
  9. My feet found the ground and I was standing upright. I felt horrible. But the only thing I could think of was hurt him. I didn't want to do that because I felt like all I've ever done was hurt him. Yes, I've hurt Alex, but I feel as if I've hurt Christofer more just by being with him. I glanced at him, seeing the hurt in his eyes. I wanted to say so badly that I didn't mean it and that I had to do it and I had no other choice since he wouldn't put me down, but I knew that it would just raise questions and I would blow it. I'm sorry Christofer. I'm so sorry for doing this to you. I'm sorry for both of you.
  10. Alex looked at me solemnly. I took a step forward and then twisted back around and started jetting towards a dagger I saw laying by a pillar. I heard my name being shouted, but I didn't dare turn back. I grabbed the dagger hilt, the blade facing my stomach. So commence the crazy, psychotic plan I had. I took the blade and shot it through me.
  11. It was the only thing I could do.
