I wasn't sure what I wanted, so I applied to several different kinds of programs to see where I'd get in
I only applied to one program - I tried getting in several times before I finally made it

6. How did you arrive at your specialized area of study or thesis topic?
I've been gradually zeroing in on these ideas as my education has progressed from undergrad right up to finishing my degree.
I've known exactly what I wanted to do from the beginning.
I'm not sure, I just kind of fell into this.
I just wanted something practical that I could finish on time.
I've changed my mind many times.
I tried just about everything, and this was the only viable topic left.
