What do you think of the papacy?
- The Vicar of Christ, successor of Peter, and protected by the Holy Spirit from error on faith and morals.
- The Bishop of Rome and head of the Church. He can and has taught errors on faith and morals before. He needs to admit these mistakes and modernize the Church where appropriate.
- The Vicar of Christ, successor of Peter, but the Chair of Peter has been vacant since 1958, so there is no pope currently.
Thoughts on Vatican II?
- The Council was valid and free from error, but was ambiguous in certain passages and this was taken advantage of by progressive theologians, bishops, or misunderstood by many.
- The Council is in continuity with prior councils, and when implemented correctly, the Church will benefit tremendously from it.
- The Council is NOT in continuity, in fact it teaches errors in several places and must be discarded for its disastrous results.
- The Council is NOT in continuity but that is good, since the Church before was too rigid and closed off to the world. The "Spirit of Vatican II" must live on if we are to be open and welcoming to the world.
How should the Mass be celebrated?
- The Extraordinary Form and the Novus Ordo is invalid
- The Extraordinary Form and Ordinary Form are both valid and legitimate, my personal preference is for the Extraordinary Form and would like it to become more common.
- The Extraordinary Form and Ordinary Form are both valid and legitimate, my personal preference is for the Ordinary Form. I would like to see a Reform of the Reform with the Ordinary Form to make it more reverent, with Ad Orientem (to the east), Latin, and smells and bells being inserted in the Mass.
- The Ordinary Form, with the priest facing the people and more popular hymns. I would like to see a limit of the Extraordinary Form, it creates division.
- Same as above, but with the option for new ideas from the community (eg. liturgical dancing, contemporary music, and special theme Masses).
- The Extraordinary Form and Ordinary Form are both valid, but I prefer the Extraordinary Form and would like to see it become the only form said in the Roman Rite.
When it comes to the Church's moral teachings on abortion, LGBT issues, divorce/remarriage, and sexuality, I think...
- The Church is right and these teachings cannot be changed.
- The Church is right, but needs to understand that these are sometimes too hard for people to live up to and not demand perfection.
- The Church is wrong in some/all of these areas and needs to change them in light of modern understanding.
What should be done about pro-abortion Catholic politicians?
- Excommunication and exclusion from the sacraments until they repent. It is for the salvation of their soul.
- No excommunication, but denial of communion.
- No excommunication or denial of communion, but speak out against their position. We cannot weaponize the Eucharist.
- This is a matter of personal conscience and the Church needs to respect that.
Women Priests?
- No, the Church has spoken and this is never up for debate.
- Yes! The all-male priesthood is sexist and discriminatory, not to mention, it can help the vocations crisis.
Thoughts on the Development of Doctrine? Are there any wrong teachings needing to be "modernized"?
- The Development of Doctrine sounds like a cover for Modernism. The only wrong teachings come from Vatican II and are not part of authentic Church teaching.
- The Development of Doctrine is good and enriches the Church's understanding of the Faith. The Church can never teach error so no teachings need to be updated.
- The Development of Doctrine allows for the changing and reversal of previous doctrines that were found to be wrong.
What is your philosophical/theological outlook?
- Thomism/Neo-Thomism: Aquinas, Suarez, Garrigou-Lagrange
- Communio: Von Balthasar, Ratzinger, De Lubac
- Concilium: Rahner, Kung, Schillebeeckx
Thoughts on Ecumenicalism?
- No discussion or dialogue with other denominations. Period.
- We can discuss with other denominations, but with the goal in mind of them entering into communion with the Catholic Church.
- While we cannot be in communion with non-Catholic denominations, we should try to cooperate and make our world a better place.
- We ought to not only be in dialogue, but be willing to learn from other faith traditions, letting go of some of our traditions that are exclusive.
What should be the main priority of the Church right now?
- Reversing Vatican II
- Implementing Liturgical Reform
- Evangelization of a Post-Christian World
- Synodality
- Social Justice/Environment
