Well, x terms are any type of number with the variable, x, afterwards. When you see a variable, you'll often be solving for it. This equation has two problems set equal to each other, so you must combine like terms and take them to opposite sides. (i.e. 8x and -x OR +1 and -1) You are either adding or subtracting. I prefer to take the x or variable terms to the right and the integers to the left. But what you do to one side, you must do to the other. (i.e. -x + x cancels the -x out of the problem. On the other side, however, 8x is added to, giving the 9x. AND when you add the -1 with +1, earning a -2 on that side. Then, to get x, you must divide by the x term, which is 9. This cancels the nine out, leaving x=-2, whuch brings us back to the rule. -2 divided by 9 equals .22 repeated, or just a normal -2/9, which is probably what the algebra teacher prefers. They HATE decimals.) -
.....;__________; I did not understand a word of that I am a failure
thank you so much for trying to explain, Rain.. -
What type of learner are you?
-
