but in my family, when my sisters and me refer to our parents, we say, "My mom" or "My dad" even when we are in the same room.
My school is pretty diversed in cultures (well at least my grade level is) and I catch my hispanic friends also say "My mom" when they are talking to their siblings. While I catch my caucasian friends use "Mom said..." or "Dad told me..."
I also caught the spanish soaps using this "My Mom"
What do you usually use? -
I never noticed it, but holy s--- you're right. Now that I think about it, the only one I know who says "Mom" is my Russian friend. .-. Everyone else says "My mom" or "my dad", including me.

ihaveahat NewbieI often just call my dad skitstovel, which literally means "s--- boot". :D It is a common practice where I'm from, since so many parents suck.
