  1. "Well that was fun," Christofer said. Relieved, I made my way out of the hanging clothes and got to my feet. Gumbo licked my hands again and I asked, "What was that all about?" Christofer looked around and said, "I'll tell you once we're on the road again. It's not safe here." He took my hand and then we fled the closet. He took his duffle bag with him and I saw Michael laying on the floor, unconscious. "You're just going to leave him there?" I asked as we neared the door. "That's what I intended to do," Christofer replied with an amused smile. I decided not to question it and we were back in the pick up in no time. Gumbo sat in between us, refusing to be left alone again. "Do you mind if I bring along Gumbo?" Christofer asked, putting the car in drive. "No, not at all," I replied, putting on my seat belt. We were by the strip mall area again and that's when I asked once more what happened.
  2. "There's not really much to explain. I was loading my stuff and then I sensed him hiding somewhere, probably in the kitchen. I hid in the closet, knowing Gumbo would lead you there and then you know the rest." "What's going to happen when he wakes up?" "He's probably going to go back to Oath and inform him." "And you don't care?" Christofer flicked his eyes on me and then back on the road. "This charade is done. I don't have to hide anything from you anymore. The amnesia would probably be wearing off by now anyways, so Oath is going to start remembering me." Gumbo curled up in my lap and dozed off. I had so many situations to deal with right now. Oath, Zac, Alex, Christofer, the cabinet, and there's probably going to be more situations to come by. The thought depressed me. "Why'd you save me from the crash and not Alex?" I asked. "You could have saved us both." Christofer sighed. "No, I couldn't have. If I didn't move that tree you guys would've crashed into, you would have died instantly. Whereas Alex, he wouldn't be as harmed." "How'd you know about the crash anyways? Were you following me?" Christofer turned left. "It was actually a coincidence. I was strolling through the park with Gumbo when I recognized Alex's car. How was your date with him?" I opened my mouth and then closed it. "He did not tell you about the date." Christofer smirked. "Believe me, he did."
  3. Christofer was going to sleep downstairs on the couch so that he could hear if anyone was trying to get in. It was around 6 P.M and we still haven't eaten anything. "Pizza or take out?" I asked. "Take out," Christofer replied. I got the land line and punched in the number to the Paper Crane and ordered fried rice, Mongolian beef, cheese wontons, and teriyaki chicken. I sat down next to Christofer, whom was on the couch watching a movie I recognized as The Grinch. Gumbo hopped onto my lap and nuzzled my air. "I think your dog likes me more than you," I said with a grin. "And I think I like you more than my dog," Christofer replied with a steady laugh. There was a long pause after that. "Did you miss me?" I asked softly. Christofer's jaw flinched. "So much," he said, just above a whisper.
  4. "Can you tell me more about us?" I asked. Christofer's smile was wistful when he nodded. "Whenever you couldn't sleep, you'd call me on the phone and we'd talk for forever until either of us slept first, which was usually me. And you said you'd listen to my breaths because it you said the sound always made you feel secure for some strange reason. And then we'd just sleep on the line together until either of us wakes up. And if that didn't work then I'd come over and we'd just talk and listen to some music and then we'd lay there in your bed, me holding you, until you fell asleep. That usually worked, and your parents never caught us. Not that we were doing anything bad or anything." I smiled. "I wish I could remember." "I wish you could too. But it was all for your protection, that memory erasing potion, and I don't regret it. Even if it meant losing you as a girlfriend, it was better than losing you completely."
  5. I sighed heavily. "What happened to Ash? I saw a picture of you, him, and James at your condo. Is he here in California too?" "Um, no. Ash has been nomadic for all I've known him so I don't know exactly where he is at the moment. When he wants to be found, he shows himself. That's just Ash." Our conversation was interrupted when the doorbell rang. Gumbo sniffed the door and started wagging his tail. I opened the door and there stood an adorable Asian teenager with the most class I've seen a delivery boy have. "Here's your food," he said, handing it to me. I set it down on the table beside me and Christofer and I decided to split the bill. I untied the plastic bag and put each of the take out containers on the table carefully so that they didn't spill. Gumbo was basically climbing the walls like a monkey, acting as if food was a savior sent from Heaven. I gave him so teriyaki chicken for starters and decided to save some more for him at the end. "Dogs can eat chicken without the bones, right?" I asked. Christofer laughed and nodded. "I don't think there's any hazard if it's boneless." We finished The Grinch while eating the warm food that made my tummy all cozy. Chinese food is amazing because it seems like you're always craving it. Have you noticed that? Or maybe it's just me.
  6. I decided to call my parents since it seemed that its been forever since we've talked. It went straight to voice mail. I decided to think logical and think my mom's phone died. Yeah, that was it. I figured I'd call tomorrow morning since it might be later there. Well, wherever they were. Meanwhile, I called Auntie Lisa to check on Alex. "He's fine, sweety. The nurses here keep telling me to be quiet though. Apparently I'm causing a distraction with my friendship. I was singing to the cancer patients here and this one nurse told me I wasn't helping. The nerve of people these days." I laughed and then we hung up the phone. "He's doing fine," I told Christofer with a smile. He swallowed and then put a hand on my knee reassuringly. We finished our food and I gave the remaining chicken to Gumbo, who was jumping in delight. "You don't have to sleep on the couch, you know. We have an alarm system here." Christofer pat Gumbo on the head and said, "Alarm systems only work on humans. I could disable that thing with my pinky." I smirked. "I love your modesty." "You did, actually," he mumbled under his breath. "But really, you could at least sleep in the one upstairs. Alex says it's really comfortable." "As tempting as it sounds, I'm fine here. Really." I gave in and then went to get him some blankets and pillows. I was charging my phone upstairs in my room when I noticed a missed alert. Uh-oh. A text message from April.
  7. One break; that's all I ask. 'We need to talk. You're lucky text messages can only hold 140 characters.' Should I reply? I mean, I could just delete the message and move on. But then it'd make me seem shady. And not slim, if you know what I'm saying. 'Tomorrow @ Starbucks?' I hit send and anxiously gathered up my phone, blankets, and pillows before heading back downstairs. I set them down on the couch when my phone beeped again. '5:30 P.M.' There was nothing left to say to that, so I tossed my phone aside and sighed. "Girl drama?" Christofer guessed. "You don't even know," I replied, fiddling with my fingers. "Gumbo's staying inside right?" I asked. "Yeah. He's potty trained, don't worry." I don't know man, but it seemed to me that Gumbo nodded. I watched Christofer fix up his sleeping area and couldn't help but smile. A pillow dropped so I bent over to pick it up for him. When I gave it back, we were face to face and I had to fight the temptation to kiss him. I couldn't do that to Alex. I just couldn't. I could see from Christofer's expression that he was fighting off the urge as well, so, I just made it easier for him and stood up straight while Gumbo started whining. "Um...I guess I'll just go upstairs now. Goodnight," I said with a nervous smile. Christofer chuckled to himself and replied, "Good night." I expected a "princess", but then I realized that this wasn't Alex. It's okay, I told myself. He's coming home tomorrow. I climbed my way upstairs while the t.v buzzed below me.
  8. I opened the door to my room and a cool breeze went through me. It felt like I haven't been in my room in ages. I changed into sweats and a Mickey Mouse crew neck that I recall getting on our trip to Disney World. It may be the happiest place on Earth, but it's also the most expensive. I bobby pinned my bangs up so it didn't get in my face and then I picked up my book and started reading cozily in my bed. It felt weird knowing Christofer—my supposedly ex boyfriend that I don't remember—was in the house. And it felt even weirder finding out that my whole life has been a lie. I had powers. And not just any power; I was like the Lady Gaga of the Supernatural World. I had a great boyfriend, a great family, great home, great friends, great life style. And it was all taken away from me from one person. I think the worst part about it all though it not even having a memory to hold onto everything except for what Christofer told me.
  9. I flipped the page of the book, not even paying attention to what I was reading because I was too distracted with my thoughts. I closed my book and it put it on my night stand. "How should I break things to April?" I asked myself out loud. "Should I tell her it was an accident? No. Because me almost shoving my tongue down Zac's throat was definitely not an accident." I reached for my phone that was usually on my nightstand next to my book to call Mom one more time to try and get some advice, but I remembered my phone was downstairs. I was exhausted and was feeling lazy, so I forgot about it and put my headphones in to listen to some tunes before heading out to brush my teeth and do the rest of my night time routine. I played Klondike on my iPod for a good 45 minutes before finally losing hope in winning a game. My iPod was going to be dead soon anyways, so I put it in hibernation mode so I could charge it again tomorrow.
  10. I got up to get my phone and went downstairs. I was halfway down when I noticed the t.v wasn't on anymore. The light was still shining bright, so I figured Christofer was reading or something. I reached the bottom step, turned to go to the living room, and gasped as a man in all black appeared out of thin air and lunged at me.
