  1. Ash stopped us in front of a big oak tree. "What's this?" I asked. "Do you want us to eat the inhabitants of the tree or something?" Ash ignored me and knocked on the tree four times. Nothing happened. "I'm afraid nobody's home," I commented. "Shut up," Ash told me. I smirked and looked on at the tree. It's fun to push his buttons. The trunk of the tree then started shifting right before my eyes. In a matter of seconds there was a bright red door, big enough to fit a human. Ash turned to me and smiled mockingly. "Apologies are encouraged." I half-smiled and walked past him, put my hand on the knob of the door and turned. I looked down and saw rickety wooden stairs leading down into darkness. "You can go first," I said to whoever with a step backwards. Ash caught me by my elbow and smiled. "Ladies first." I looked at April and gestured her to go. She waved me away and did the same gesture to me. "It's your boyfriend," she remarked. "But it's also OUR parents," I reminded her. She shrugged and I gulped. I put my foot onto the first step of the stairwell and slowly descended down, April behind me.
  2. The steps creaked and groaned as I stepped on them, which is just what I needed: another reminder for my heaviness. Coming from a girl, no matter what you look like, you always feel fat. I let the hollow tree trunk guide me the rest of the way down as my eyes couldn't see in the darkness. I climbed down the last step and took a look at what was in front of me. A small crack of light appeared from under the luminous door that stood before my eyes. "Are you sure this is safe?" April asked Ash. "You don't trust me?" Ash retorted. I cringed inside, remembering when I spied on Christofer that one time at the park where he was talking to Michael somewhat about trust. Before I knew it, my hand was on the cool doorknob and flew it open. A bright light came through, almost blinding me from the sudden change of atmosphere. I covered my eyes with my hands and then blinked a few times. When I thought it was safe, I slowly brought my hands down and adjusted to the light easily.
  3. I looked around the new room. There was a kitchen, a dining table, a sofa, and a staircase leading upwards in a spiral formation. I looked around for maybe a nymph to greet us but saw no one. I was going to turn around to question Ash when I felt a small tug on my pant leg. I looked down, thinking it was Gumbo, but I was wrong. There was a dwarf—or elf, standing there, looking up at me with gigantic green eyes the color of grass. They reminded me of Sam. "Hello," I said awkwardly with a wave. The elf broke its gaze from me and shouted something I couldn't quite understand. Suddenly a bunch of other elves appeared from hiding spaces under the table, in the kitchen cabinets, under the sofa, from the rooms from up above. Ash stepped in front of me and kneeled down to the elf. Then it dawned on me how small these creatures were. They were too small to possibly be an elf. Maybe a gnome, I thought. "I hope you don't mind us intruding," Ash said to the little guy, "but you still have to repay me for saving your tree from burning, so I hope you consider this as it. All we need is food and we're on our way."
  4. The gnome looked around at its peers and nodded. The other little gnomes scattered about, preparing food and placing it on the table as fast as the speed of light. Not literally of course, but it sure looked like it. I glanced behind my shoulder at Alex. A younger look gnome girl was showing him her even smaller doll. He sat down and started playing with her. I turned back around and smiled at myself. Guys who are good with kids is such a turn on. I felt another tug on my pant leg and gnome was gesturing me to sit down on the couch where Ash was already sitting with April. Not wanting to sound rude, I took a seat. "What exactly are they?" I whispered to Ash. "Dromes. Half dwarf-half gnome. That's why they're so small." I nodded and looked above me again. I heard soft muffled footsteps. I wonder if the Dromes think about what would happen if the tree just collapsed. Alex joined us on the couch a few minutes later with a smile on his face. Gumbo was off in a corner since the Dromes thought it would be funny if they pulled on his tail. The Dromes bustled about like a rush hour in a New York restaurant. Then everyone stopped doing what they were doing at the same time and stood by the table.
  5. The head Drome, the one that pulled my pant leg first, cleared his throat. He was no smaller than my leg, knee and down. His skin was a lovely shade of sky blue with a graying beard and a pointy hat on his head. "I, Leader of the Oak, allow savior Ash and his friends to a feast of the morning meal. Enjoy." Ash stood up, followed by the rest of us. He led us to the dining table with a smile, probably happy to be called someone's savior. I scraped my chair back and sat down. On the table were plates and plates, rows and rows, stacks and stacks, of breakfast food. Eggs, bacon, waffles, bagels, toast, hash brown; all of the good stuff. I waited for Ash's nod and then dug in happily. Gumbo ate on the floor without disruption of somebody trying to rip his tail off, reminding us to eat heavily as we had a long day ahead of us. I took a bite from my hash brown and felt weird because the Dromes were just standing their watching us eat. "You can't tell them to go away? I asked Ash. "No. Besides, I thought you'd like the attention," he said with a joking smile. I went back to my food, trying to ignore the stares.
  6. When everyone was done eating, Ash thanked the head Drome and as promised, left immediately. "They're weird," April commented when we were a yard away from the tree. "Yeah, but they cook great food," Alex replied with a stretch of his arms. "The blood mingers kept tugging on my tail like it were a meaningless play toy," Gumbo scowled. I chuckled and lightly pat Gumbo on the head. Up ahead I saw another pond and decided to check it out. "Do you know where Juno is?" I asked after I got the mermaid to show her face. She smiled like a shark and shook her beautiful head of curly locks no. We continued down the path with a sigh from me. "I'm irritated." April leered. "You didn't expect to find the Compor that easily, did you?" "I was hoping I could take the easy way," I replied. "I don't think easy is an option anymore, so you might as well toss that word out of your mind," she remarked.
  7. I sagged my shoulders as I walked. We covered good ground without any difficulties with any of the Inferiors. Ash kept his gleaming sword out with him at all times. One time I asked him how it worked and he replied with one of his smart ass answers: "You swing away with it and hope you stab something." No freaking duh. April and Alex spent quite a long time walking together, talking about more strategies about their powers. I could hear them so it wasn't like they were flirting with each other. April wouldn't do that to me. Come to think of it, I'm not sure. I kiss her boyfriend, she kisses mine? He's not necessarily my boyfriend yet because I haven't decided, but still.
  8. I trailed behind in the back by myself, occasionally joined by Gumbo just to tell me that I'm slow and I should keep up or else an Inferior might swallow me and nobody would notice since I'm so far behind. I started humming to myself to keep me occupied. I really hoped that Oath could cut me some slack. Even an inch would help me out with the huge situation that I was facing. Better yet, he better pray I get killed here because if I saw him...He stole my life, so I'll steal his. It's as simple as that. I heard a rustle in the bushes. I told myself to keep calm. "It's probably just a squirrel," I told myself under my breath.
  9. But sadly, all of my excuses of danger involves a squirrel one way or another. I frowned and looked around. The path behind me was deserted which made it creepier than it should be. I quickened my pace until I was just behind Gumbo. "Everything all right, love? You seem to have the jitters." Everyone turned to look at me which made me uncomfortable. I nodded with an uneasy smile and we carried on. In a few minutes I was trailing behind again. Why do these people walk so fast? I didn't really mind though. If something were going to attack it should have attacked by now. I continued humming to myself and then stopped when my face hit the ground with a loud thud. I could hear the other's footsteps coming towards me, but they were becoming distant and farther away as I was being dragged across the dirt. The knock to my head was making me feel drowsy and I could smell blood, feel it inching down my forehead. I felt hands on me, or maybe claws, I'm not 100% sure. The attacker was dragging me from my armpits into someplace cold and empty. I couldn't hear the footsteps any longer from my companions as I faded into emptiness.
  10. RULES FOR THE GAME: Hey! So as usual, there will be a question in the results and whoever gets in right gets a sort of prize. But this prize is kind of different and huge. Whoever wins gets to take part in picking who you and everyone else ends up with in the end: Alex, Christofer, or neither. There will be 3 questions, one for each part (including this one). Comment your answers and if you get it right then you get to cast your vote for whoever you want. For example, let's say there are 10 winners. Each person will cast a vote for who they want. The majority wins. Simple as that. Here's the hard part: getting the answer right and picking. Whoever you vote for not only impacts your story, but everyone else's story. First question is in the results. Good luck.
