  • It did have the correct spelling for 'haemorrhage'. If you read the directions before taking the quiz, it specifically states that the British spellings are considered the 'correct' answers.

  • Did anyone notice? This quiz did not have the correct spelling of hemorrhage to choose from in the multiple choice so I just chose the closest-to-correct spelling which was spelled haemorrhage. My score was 92.

Slightly better than half but still a little way from a 'great' score. Keep at it and you will be at the next level before you know it!

Wow, I really didn't do that good.

  • Mistake in the intro is the use of 'fair' instead of 'fare' :-) @Dozy Deb @intonsus

  • OK I got 100% because I am educated and English but today I made several spelling mistakes. 1. Practice (noun) when it should have been Practise (verb), onto instead of unto, defense instead of defence. By the way could you spread it around that 'you are' is shortened to you're not your which means something completely different. Hemorrhage is the American way but looks totally wrong to an English person. So much so it gives me diarrhoea or oesophageal convulsions.

  • Sparkles 264 - The Oxford Dictionary is the 'English' standard from which we are taught English in the UK :)

  • Oohh, sparkle 264, where did I put that? The verb "spell" is one of a number of verbs where older irregular forms exist for the past tense (that is "-t" rather than "ed").

Generally, these forms are dropping out of English, but the process has gone further in US English than in UK English. So in the USA, "spelt" is rare enough that most people view it as wrong, but in the UK the two forms coexist. And the spelling mistake in the intro is ? intonsus

  • Also I got a 95%. Your quiz isn't that hard. The only one I had trouble on was hemorage or whatever that was. I'm only in the fifth grade. Also, what the heck is an Oxford Dictionary.

  • Ha ha - I knew the differences between English English and american English would cause a problem. I assure that haemorrhage and misspelled, in the Oxford English dictionary are both correct... Ce la vie. In an American English spelling test I am sure I would be absolutely rubbish mprovancial

  • You have another word misspelled. Or maybe it is spelled correctly according to your rules. In which case, I am misspelling it! lol According to the way I learned it in my American English spelling classes, however, I am spelling it correctly. :) I don't cheat so I didn't look in your Oxford dictionary or any other dictionary. It was fun though. Well, actually, it wasn't but I recognize that it is YOUR test. Good luck with other quizzes. :)
