the blues officer test

This is to determine if a person is ready for a promotion. The test covers basic ship handling skills and game knowledge. For heaven's sake why do we need this paragraph again?

The captain will review your scores and speak with you after the test. Come on, anyone taking this test will know why they are doing so, if you are offering free tests, just make them free and forget all this junk.

1. If you intend to go pillage using someone else's ship, what is the first thing you should do when you board?
Click the hire jobbers box and hit [deport].
Check the stock and also read the officer's bulletin board to see what the owner has written there.
Configure your voyage to pillage with your preferred difficulty range and enemy type.
Chart a course.
Call out on either crew or /fo to see who wants to pillage.
2. Oh no! You are being attacked by the "black ship"! Why is this happening to you?
No reason. You just got unlucky. The black ship sails around at random attacking people every few hours.
Someone reported you to an OM because you did something wrong and the OM just sent this ship after you.
The last ship you fought had a red power ring and you won, so the game is sending you this as an even tougher challenge.
The last ship you fought had a blue or aqua power ring and was weaker than you, so the game is sending you this so you know how it feels to get owned!
3. You have a person named "greenbones" lazing about on board. You have asked/ordered them several times to take a station but they won't respond. How do you get rid of them?
Type "/plank greenbones".
Ask them politely to whisk home.
Click on their head and hit the icon with the boot that says "Fire this Pirate".
Petition an OM to have them banned immediately.
4. Which of the following statements is true?
Carp will not go down unless bilge is at least halfway down first.
Sails will not fill to full speed unless carp is at least halfway down first.
Bilge will not go down unless sails are at least halfway up to full speed.
Bilge will not go down unless carp is at least halfway down first.
5. Similarly, which of these following statements is true?
Sails will not fill to full speed unless bilge is at least halfway down first.
Carp will not go down unless sails are at least halfway up to full speed.
Sails will not fill to full speed without someone manning the navigation wheel.
If the person does good or better at the navigation wheel, carp and bilge will go down even faster.
6. You did poorly in previous battles, and you are doing your best to get the damage down, but it says that your ship keeps engaging into battle even though you didn't hit attack. Why is this happening?
It's not your fault. The other ship is attacking you. The text always reads that you attacked them regardless
One of our crew's greenie pirates probably hit the attack button. You should find out who and get rid of them.
You forgot to un-check the auto-attack box.
You did not configure the voyage properly to begin with.
7. Well, the voyage is over and you won every battle, but there's no PoE in the hold for restock. Weird! Why is this?
I'm ranked officer. Officer's receive restock money directly into their person rather than the hold.
I apparently didn't configure the voyage correctly. Oops!
The ship owner doesn't have the hold set up correctly to receive PoE after battle.
I'm just ranked Officer and need to have a Fleet Officer or above with me to take care of restocking for me
8. The officers bulletin board says restock to 50 rum and 150 cannonballs, but the ship only had 19 rum and 30 cannonballs when you deported. How much do you have to restock since your pillage did not make enough extra to completely fill it to that.
19 rum and 30 cannonballs just like it had when you deported. It's not your responsibility to stock the owners ship for them past whatever you use.
Buy as much as you can afford since your pillage did not make enough to restock it to the owners specifications.
Restock it to 50 rum and 150 cannonballs just like the bulletin board says. And pay out of your own pocket if you have to. You should have checked the bulletin board and stock before you left
Don't restock it at all. The vessel owner has completely unrealistic restock expectations and the Captain should be notified of this immediately.
