You left off being cornered by the three men, one of which offered you luxury....

  1. I studied the three men before me. Each watching me with different expressions in their eyes. The hunter's face was hard and emotionless. Watching every shift in my position, judging me as prey. However, his eyes betrayed him. They held a keen, soft interest of which confused me. The warrior's eyes were the same as his face, cold and suspicious. But as for the diplomat, well, his face showed confidence, but his eyes showed longing. I smiled. I could not escape with the three of them, eyes fixed on me. They were too good at their jobs. I took his hand but pulled him close to me. I could see the other two tense up. But my focus was not on them. I pressed my body against the diplomat and whispered in his ear. "You really will protect me? Give me all I want?" "Uh... uh... y-y-ya. I promised this." His face and ears burned red. He was flustered, but I felt one last thing was in order. I kissed along his jaw line, and he shuddered, unable to stop me. But suddenly, I laughed and pushed him into the warrior. I winked at the hunter and said triumphantly, "Well thank you boys!" I slipped into the crevices behind me and squirmed out of reach. The only one ready to jump at me was the warrior, but I thwarted that. I confused the hunter by doing something no prey does, and that poor diplomat will never be able to stop thinking about me! I laughed to myself hearing them shout, the noise decreasing as I went deeper and deeper. When there was no more sound I sat down. My adrenaline and clear mind left me instantly. I began to shake and shed a tear. That was too close. If it wasn't for the fact that no man could resist me because of the mere fact that I'm a woman, and that they've undoubtedly never touched a young woman, I would have been enslaved like most other women like me. I flashed back to when I was a young teen, hidden among the branches of a tree. *I was frightened, too helpless to be of any help to my mother. She made me promise to remain hidden, she told me that she could stay strong knowing I remained free. The men surrounded her, each with a different weapon. The man on the horse dismounted and called forth a boy my age. "Since your mother has died my son, I need a new woman to relieve my pleasures. However, because of your age it is time you know how to capture a woman. First, you break her spirit, then you take her home, and then do with her as you please. A woman's rightful place is at the feet of a man." He said this with a cruel glint in his gaze. My mother spit on his boots, "My spirit will remain strong no matter how close to death you bring me." She stood resiliently. I cried silently as they beat her, but she uttered no sound, glaring at the man with all her might. She refused to pass out too, angering the man beyond belief. The boy seemed unhappy, but did not show his father. Finally when the man could do nothing more with the tools of torture and pain he had, he tied her like a hog and attached her to the back of his horse. She looked briefly to my hiding place and mouthed, "I love you, stay strong my kitten." Then, with the men surrounding her, they dragged her from my sight.* I cried until my eyes couldn't produce any more tears. I then shoved the nightmarish memories back into the shadowed part of my mind and stood with renewed strength. I would stay strong, for her. I continued down the crevice until I emerged on the other side. About a mile away I could see Bo searching for me. I smiled, he had followed my directions. I whistled the same bird song as before and watched him rear excitedly. He galloped towards me in excitement. He reached me and pushed me over. I laughed as he continuously nudged me, nickering to me the entire time. I pet his head and stood. "I'm going to need some things Bo, but that means we have to go back to the bad place." His ears pinned, but I knew he understood. I got on his back and began to ride once again.
  2. (WARRIOR'S POV) I watched unhappily as the girl kissed him. A small spark of jealousy resounded within my brain but I pushed it away. This wasn't right, this woman wouldn't go from full out running to extreme gratefulness. To my surprise she laughed and I was suddenly pushed into by the diplomat. I snarled in anger and pushed him from me. She said something but I couldn't hear. The hunter stood there in confusion and I saw revealed before us a crevice that only she could fit into. I yelled in rage. Surely the hunter would have been able to catch her! "You ridiculous buffoons! You realize we cannot go back without her right?! Now we are going to have to search for her with ten times the effort. You stupid hunter! Instead of standing there stunned you could have grabbed her! AND YOU! Shouldn't you of all people have recognized the fact that she was only putting up an act? Of course she would make your mind clouded with her dainty little lips! How do you think she's lasted so long on her own? She's smart!" I threw a rock at the hunter and knocked out the diplomat with the hilt of my sword. I kicked the wall in anger. Looking into the crevice I could tell it went the entire way through the canyon. We would have to search the top of the canyon to find the other entryway. And with some denial, I realized that I wanted her too.
  3. (MY POV) I rode for days. Continuing through forests and plains. Each different in many ways. I was careful to hide my tracks and sleep in hidden areas. Slowly my confidence came back in myself. I could and would survive on my own. When we finally came to the desired forest, we continued with heightened awareness. This was the forest my mother was taken in, the forest holding that dreaded kingdom where my mother's bones must lie. Bo's ears flicked to every sound, even though it was most likely some bird. We'd jump every time a animal appeared fleeing. I always had my bow drawn, ready to shoot. The problem with this place was that the soldiers in the kingdom were great at catching everything, including people. We came to a small pool with two large fish swimming. I told Bo to wait hidden nearby. This was my business. He left my sight and I climbed a nearby tree. The one place I felt safe in was within the branches of a tree. My bow was drawn and I waited hidden. For hours nothing but the occasional rabbit came through. Right when I began to wonder if she still lived a woman with silvery hair emerged from a path. She was the wife of one of the highly respected men of the city. Probably the only man who would treat a woman with respect there. She was a woman I trusted without question, same with the five men escorting her. Men who would beat me in an instant but too scared of the woman to do anything but pretend I was not there. I shot my arrow and it landed at her feet. She looked at it with a calm poise. The men however appeared frightened and started to search for the source. The woman bent down to inspect the arrow. She smiled and laughed. She raised her arms in a welcoming stature and said, "I know you are there Ashlyn. I made this arrow, and the bow you carry. Let me see your face, it has been too long." I hopped from the tree, "Iris! I do miss you too much!" She looked at me with her uncommonly purple eyes, "What is it you need wild child." "Ha! Why must I only see you when I am in need?" "Because it is too dangerous. You and I both know this. I am blessed with a loving man, but you are not." I nodded. "So? What is it you need me to make?" "Something I could use in close combat, I had a close encounter recently and got lucky. I won't always have luck. It would be preferred if it was small, easy to carry and keep at my side." She nodded thinking. From the basket she held she threw piles of meat into her pool for her pets. They both devoured the food with a blink of an eye. "Follow my instructions without question. Hide Bo out of the forest, he will be detected too easily. I know that is hard for you but it must be done. Dogs have been searching the area lately for the rumor that you are around. Somebody came with the news from a nearby kingdom. A spy no doubt. They are looking for you. They will know you are here within hours. You must use the trees. Stay out of sight, and never touch the ground. I will leave you your weapon in the pool tomorrow at the same time. Wait an hour to insure that no one is watching and then fetch the weapon. No man dares go among my pets, for they would eat a man, but not a woman. Not a woman. Take the weapon and leave from the trees once there are no more. Find Bo and then leave nothing but a whisper behind. Did you know you've received a nickname because most kingdoms have known your out there for some time? You are known as The Whisper. Funny isn't it?" She then turned on her heels and left me standing alone.
  4. I took a breathe and continued to where Bo was hidden. I told him what he must do and he protested. But I convinced him that it was the best course of action. I watched him leave and felt suddenly alone. I always had him watching my back, but this time, I was utterly alone. I then created a false trail for the dogs in a totally random direction. I then retraced my steps to a tree I purposely acted as if I brushed against it. I climbed the tree and traveled from tree to tree until I came to one to large to climb. I set up a small little sleeping area, but I doubted that I would be able to sleep that night. I took an arrow and placed it in my bow. I hid myself and waited for the moon to rise. I tried to rest but sleep never came. I was jumpy the whole night. In the distance I'd hear the occasional barking form dogs and yelling of men. Iris was right. I remained uneasy all night. I watched the sunrise and waited for it to go above my head before I moved. I packed my things and moved again from my tree. I leaped from tree to tree until I came to the one above the pool. I watched moments later as Iris and a heightened amount of men emerged from the forest. She fed her pets and left. I saw nothing come from her basket that resembled a weapon, and I wondered if she was caught. But before I could run from the possibility, one of the fish began to spaz out. I watched with interest as it coughed out something that glittered gold. I realized that this was the weapon. The fish continued on it's path and I waited an hour as she asked. waiting for the right moment to emerge from my hidden spot.
  5. When I was sure that I was safe to leave, I silently left the trees. I walked to the pool and squinted at the bottom, in the light something glittered. I put my finger in the cool water and watched the fish remain calm. I stripped off my packs and entered the water. I carefully slid past the fish and swam to the bottom. I couldn't tell what it was but I grabbed the two golden objects and quickly ascended before my lungs would give out. I emerged from the pool and let the sun begin to dry me off. I looked at what lied in my hands with confusion. These were not ordinary weapons. Yet again, Iris was unique in her crafts. The golden objects resembled claws, one for each hand. I realized that for every set of five, they were connected by an invisible bond I could not detect, even feel. I put on on my hand and watched it mold to the shapes of my fingers. They looked exactly like claws, and were so sharp that if I even touched the tips, blood was drawn. I moved my hand and the were just as if they were born there, part of my body. I looked closer and saw intricate designs carved into the barely noticeable if you weren't observant. I knew that they held some sort of magic. Magic wasn't present on Earth, but it was here. Iris was one of the few you could manipulate it. My bow and arrows had the same drawings. They couldn't ever be damaged and the arrows always returned to me if I could not fetch them. I smiled at the success Iris had made for me. They were perfect! I only wondered what secrets they held that waited to reveal themselves. I took the claws from my fingers with ease, and knew only I could take them from my hand. I linked them to my belt and climbed the tree again, ready to return to Bo.
  6. I leaped from tree to tree, eager to return to my Bo. When I was nearly there a thick branch that should have undoubtedly held my weight. I fell from the tree and hit the ground with a thud. I groaned and looked up. I saw that the branch was rigged to fall and my eyes turned to the hoard of men surrounding me. I leaped to my feet and instantly put on my claws. They all laughed and mocked my claws. I mocked laughing with them with a cruel glint in my eyes. They all trailed of and looked at me a bit frightened. 'As they should.' I leaped at one and tore into his armor with ease. I took him and threw him into two others. I let out a frightening growl that I had perfected over the years and let three come at me. The first to reach me had no chance, I ripped my claws through his helmet and skull. The next was able to dodge my first two strikes and throw his hammer at me. I dodged and kicked him in the chest knocking him back a few feet. The next swung a sword at me and I grabbed it with my hand, to my delight I realized that the claws created a small barrier between the skin of my hand and a blade. I ripped the sword from his hand and I plunged my claws into his throat. I pulled out the claws and watched him collapse. I waited for anymore to come forward and fight and I just laughed. "Cowards." I yelled. I began to run back in the direction I was heading originally, pleased as no one followed me.
  7. I ran for a while but sensed a growing feeling of unease. I stopped because something was too wrong. I backed against a tree and men emerged again surrounding me. They each looked at me in fear. "Come back for more boys?" I asked them amused. In the center of their circle a path was created. A man on a black horse came to it. I suspected freisan to be the horse. It was outfitted with shinning black armor, on it's head was armor with a horn, imitating a unicorn. It's nostrils were flared and eager for a fight. It's rider sat with black armor and a horned black helmet. A large black cape flowed from his back. In his hand he held an enormous spiked battle flail. I was extremely frightened by the presence of what must be the king, but I stood proud and looked confident. He handed his weapon to a soldier besides him, of which could barely hold it, and he showed me that he held nothing his hands. He then took from his head his helmet. He revealed a strong face framed by black hair. His eyes were greener than the trees that surrounded him. He smiled a brilliant white smile, "The Whisper, finally I see your face. Why do I recognize you? Oh well, it seems as if you are a bit bolder than a whisper however, it'd be nice to behold your true name. Care to tell it before I bring back my new beautiful prize?" I realized in horror this was the boy I remembered from oh so long ago, my mother's beaten face flashed before me. He recognized me because of the similarities between me and my mother. From my face a tear escaped, and a look of shock escaped the man's eyes. However, the only thing I could feel in my heart was...
