  • I agree with the person who said YOU don't know Va. We are more diversified than your quiz. This state is filled with history - most presidents, first college (William and Mary),

Jamestown settlement,Williams burg, etc. Important military bases - Norfolk Navy, Oceana Jets, Ft. Belvoir Army engineers, Quantico Marines, CIA training at Quantico. Natural resources - Va. Beach, Smith Mt. Lake, Clator Lake, Natural Bridge, swans on the Eastern Shore, wild ponies, crab and fishing industry, Smithfield Hams, Peanuts, strawberry and blueberry farms, wine industry. The cities with their particular character - Roanoke with the railroad industry and education sites, Richmond as the state government capitol, Charlottesville with the influence of Thomas Jefferson, Alexandria with the influence of George Washington, Arlington with the influx of Asians, Norfolk with the shipbuilding industry. And yes we have sports besides football from Va. Tech and U.Va.- Michael Weiss was an olympic ice skater who started skating in Fairfax, Va, hockey is big in Norfolk, Martinsville speedway has autoracing, there is horseracing and horsebreeding, George Mason had a winning basketball team, la cross is getting bigger and bigger in the area, soccer teams abound, "Wonder woman" lives in Va. Police training films are made in Suffolk, other films have been made throughout Va. Wayne Neuton originated from Va. Roy Clark is from Meherrin, Va. Blue Grass music is big in Va.with Galax, Va. having a big festival every year. Speaking of festivals - Winchester has the Dogwood festival every year. I could go on..... so you see it is YOU that does not know Virginia.

  • This is a dumb quiz. The fact that they think most of the people in Virginia listen to rap says it all. Besides, both Kentucky AND West Virginia border Virginia. I was born and raised there. How about actually asking REAL questions. For example: What tribe did Pocahontas belong to? The Powhatan. When was Jamestown founded? 1607. Which college resides in Farmville? Longwood.

  • I have lived in Virginia for over 10 years. The questions which actually pertain to the state I knew. I don't follow the music scene, so how would I know what singers come from where? And whoever wrote the quiz needs to realize that both West Virginia AND Kentucky both border Virginia. So that was a loaded question. They need to redo some of these questions to reflect on the actual Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • I think it should have had less to do with sports. I only got an 81% but I've never lived anywhere but Virginia in my entire life. Most of my mother's family hasn't either. I just don't care for/know much about sports. I can actually kind understand the questions about musicians, because it just so happens that the most famous celebrities of recent from Virginia are rappers/R&B singers/what have you. But I can also agree that I would have scored much higher if there were more questions about history.

  • Yes, va_babe and cpg, this quiz was stupid. To have such a high percentage of questions related to rap ignores the great history of this great Commonwealth. And no, va_babe, half the country doesn't listen to rap, only brain-dead morons like you do. Oh wait, maybe it is half the country. Idiot Obama voters I presume...

  • I've lived in South West Virginia my whole life. Who the hell wrote this quiz? What on earth does knowing rappers, and R&B singers have to do with living here? Do y'all think all we do is listen to hip-hop, and watch college sports? I don't know who wrote this quiz, but they shouldnt be allowed to produce any more of them.

  • I was born in Michigan, but lived for 67 years in Virginia. Agree that Virginia is more important than who coaches Tech or the mascots. The number of presidents, Jamestown, and other questions, perhaps having one question dealing with musicians/contempor ary music.

  • Born & raised in Virginia. I am 33 so I guess thats how I scored a 88% on this quiz. The questions were not that great. I listened to a lot of rap in my teens & 20s And I love r&b so those were pretty easy for me but not everyone listens to rap & r&b so those shouldnt be on a VA test in my opinion, Sports and college neither. Sure have the colleges on there but not direct sports questions. 2 up 2 down and VA For Lovers I loved those questions. I am going to create a VA quiz this week. Stay tuned!

  • opps. Anyway, I was born deaf so I'm unable to answer questions regarding singers since I can not understand songs.

Also, many people have little interest in sports. I missed all the sports questions.

I'm a native Virginian for the record.

  • I was born and reared in Southwest VA. I attended Radford College when it was a part of VA Tech.

I know VA History because I have always had a keen interest in it. Had ancestors at Jamestown in 1619.

Rap isn't my thing. I support the Hokies(they were Gobblers when I attended Radford and had many more names before they were called Hokies.)

  • The rappers, missed 'em, sorry too old and not interested & don't consider missing those not being a true Virginian! Probably missed who UVA beat in basketball too and the fingers thing in the end I'd never heard of. I agree with others, all the history in VA and this had more sports questions than anything. Yes, Kentucky and WVA border VA folks, get it right.

  • Lmath, I was wondering about that also. Either the person who made this quiz is not from Virginia, or can't read a map because both Kentucky and West Virginia border us. This quiz really didn't say much about our state.

  • Not everyone listens to rap or music of a similar genre. I surely do not, and so of course I missed those questions-- yet I have lived in Virginia my whole life, having never stepped foot out of Hampton Roads.

  • Why did you put all these sports and rap questions on here? I agree with most of the people who commented. You need more HISTORY instead of things like sports because there are actually a lot of people that don't like sports.

  • My family has been in Virginia since early 1600's and in Southwest Virginia since 1700.

So what the hell has R & b and rap and music production got

to do with Virginia? thro in sports as well, what the hell again.

    A very poor poll.

  • I have lived in Virginia for 13 years. I missed all the questions on the rappers. I have no interest in rap or that kind of music and maybe they should have more questions about the state itself!

  • (Plz read this you'll hopefully agree with me) Girl: Am I pretty?

Boy: I'm not answering your question because I'm sick of everyone posting this!

  • this quiz is seriously retarded. i was born in VA *moved to NC at 1yr old* and still visit like 2 weekends every month!

this quiz needs to have more history in it, instead of all this pop culture. FACT ONE: VIRGINIANS DO NOT LISTEN TO RAP. nu-uh. yes, basketball and mascot questions are okay, and so are speaker of the house ones. but RAP?! sorry, that's just stupid.
